"the clock is ok. i don't think it's worth the price. my guests look at it and say it's nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. I had to play with the hands to keep the second hand from getting stuck. i thought it was a little larger but it's not too small. i think it would be an ok purchase IF the price was MUCH cheaper!"

"This is a neat idea. I was first drawn to this clock for the unusual design. So different from another square frame on the wall. I really could relate to it, as it speaks of my husband's and my interests. That being said, I wish it was a bit more substantial, with more dimensional gears. It is completely made of sheet metal, so it does look a bit cheap in real life... but it fit my purposes in a satisfactory manner. It fits perfectly in the space I intended it for."

"Arrived in perfect condition. I'd read previous reviews stating that the gears were bent but did not experience that at all. There was nothing to assemble -- it come in one large piece already put together. All we had to do was add a battery for the clock and put 2 nails in the wall. The piece not only had hangers, it had balances on the bottom so that the entire piece sits about an inch off of the wall. It looks terrific and we're receiving many compliments."

"Although it is a very cool clock, it is not what I had hoped for. It is basically sheet metal-very thin-not much to it. The 'gears' don't even seem to fit together. The face on the clock is definitely too "new" looking for the rest of the clock. It is a conversation piece, but one I wish had more substance."

"Delivered fast with no damage and no assembly required. I bought this for my husband who is a mechanical engineer and is gear obsessed. He was surprised and loved it! My only disappointment is that the cream face is brighter than appears. I wouldn't pay full price but was worth the sale price with free shipping."

Wow the picture was sooo nice but it's so cheap looking!! WE got it a while back and never opened it until today because we finally got the room done where it was suppose to go. I don't think I want to put it up and don't know if I can return it at this point. I'm so disappointed. I can't believe I paid $200, I could have gotten a much better one from restoration hardware for almost the same price. I really hope I can return it because I'm not satisfied at all!!

"While the picture makes it seem as though there are actual gears welded together for the background, they are really just thin sheets of metal cut to resemble gears. Also, the clock is simply painted on to the metal, which gives it a rather cheap look. The only reason the piece looks like it come away from the wall is because there are brackets about an inch thick behind it."

"Although this piece looks good in a photo or when mounted on a distant wall, it is poorly made when viewed up close. The finishing that is supposed to make it look weathered is very poorly applied. The bolts that screw into the back and rest against the wall would not thread properly, therefore one does not contact the wall. The clock mechanism is also poorly made. The battery cover is difficult to replace after the battery is installed. However, I am keeping this piece because I like the concept and at some point I will repaint it to give it a truer patinaed look."

"We have a large. high, open wall space above the TV. After several returns buying cheap clocks from local stores, we found this item. It was big enough, very cool looking, and a perfect color for a gold-tone wall. We were worried about shipping damage having seen the way others bought locally came out of the box.
We are happy to report that the packaging on this item was EXCELLENT. There was a Styrofoam cover over the hands of the clock (notched to fit) to protect them. All the rest of the packaging protected every aspect of the product. Overall construction and appearance is very good. The reason for the 4 stars on workmanship was the clock mechanism itself. The battery door would not go back on once the battery was installed to save my life - even busted one of the tabs off. Ultimately, its in place, loose, but in place. Not really needed as the battery fits very tight - so not returning anything. I suspect this is a one-off slight defect. Also - you need to straighten the hands a bit once up - again - not a big deal, just would like to have seen a little better quality on the clock mech itself.
Installation was easy, though different than the instructions which were very weak. The mounting hardware was intuitive on how to use, but the instructions said to use measurements that were no where in print (2 of us looked). So after installing the mounting hardware, just hold up to the wall and mark the drill points.
One note of warning on the install - the mounting hardware is painted black. If you are holding it up against the wall to mark location, it will leave black marks. To avoid this, cover the tips w/ masking tape before holding in place. That protected my wall and still allowed be to position and mark.
Otherwise, Home Decorators continues to be a great place to get quality home furnishings. This is a product, that if it matches your decor, you'll love it and the $ is right."
