"I have the 3-shelf bookshelf in my kitchen with baskets to hold all the junk (kids' school papers, mail, etc.) that has been piling up on the island and kitchen table. The bookshelf is a nice way to organize that stuff, as well as library books, photo frames, etc. We have cherry cabinets and black granite on the countertops, so the black bookshelf is a nice accent. I had first wanted a shelf a little bit taller, but the price on this bookshelf was much lower than one I looked at somewhere else, so the price was worth the sacrifice of 3 inches in height. I caught this when it was on sale, so that saved me even more. My husband assembled it for me, and even though he is very handy and built much of our house himself, the assembly was a bit of a nightmare. The cams bent and broke out of the wood when he turned them, so he used his own drill, dowel rods, and wood glue to improvise. Now that that is finished and the shelf is in place, it does look really nice. It seems HDC has improved the way they package furniture; a piece I ordered a few years ago arrived with a corner of the box completely smashed in, so a corner of the piece was damaged. On this bookshelf, all of the corners were really well protected inside the box."

"I ordered this along with the side table and the television stand. As I mentioned in tv stand rating, my husband was upset i ordered furniture to be assembled. We both really liked all the pieces. This is a very sturdy shelf and with the stabilizers it is heavy. Everything was delivered quickly and nothing was damaged and easy to put together."

"I was disappointed in the overall quality and the materials of the bookshelves. The instructions were detailed and clear, but this is a tedious assembly due to the poorer quality of the materials with concrete weights to keep it from tipping and a much more plastic feel than I expected. The back is very thin. It does meet the needs I purchased it for and looks OK from across the room. The "reeded" look is just groves that are dirt catchers."

"The Larsson bookcase was a great find. Not only was it a breeze to assemble, but it also looks great and offers a lot of storage space. I have never found an assemble-it-yourself item so easy to put together. All parts were clearly labeled and the directions were easy to follow. The book case is sturdy and very nice looking, and I would recommend it to others."

"The bookcases were very easy to put together and look great! One minor problem was all the little styrofoam pieces sticking to the cabinet. Putting it together outside in the garage would have kept the space cleaner, but it's a small price to pay for such great looking bookcases."

"This handsome bookcase really met our needs. I wanted a black wooden bookcase that would stand up to some use but be attractive at the same time. This fits the bill! Solid construction, you can see the wood grain through the black stain (so you know it's wood). The directions for constructing it were clear, and had extras like tape for the back seams."

"This bookcase is an excellent looking one and wasn't difficult to build. It is a little heavy, but can be built with little to no help. It comes with 2 balancers, but I didn't install them because It was sturdy without them. Overall a great buy for what it is worth. It looks sharp when completed and material is strong."
