"I purchased the 8X10 Martha Stewart Fretwork rug and love it! Is great quality and love how it works with the furniture and room overall. My only complaint is that the Buckwheat color shown on the website is nothing like the actual carpet color. I went to a retail store and realized this before making the purchase. It's very neutral but not the rich beige that is shown on the website. Hard to describe the color but i love it!"

"The fretwork look of this rug is created by using contrasting fibers and pile heights; a tight, soft, high pile wool for the design and a low, looped, course fiber for the background. Whatever the background fiber is, it is not meant to be walked on. I have this rug in my den and it has created a whole army of dust bunnies. The rug will start to pill after just a day of average foot traffic. If you are having company over, it will look matted before the party is over. It's a beautiful rug for the 5 minutes in between vacuuming and someone walking on it, then it matts again. If you sit down on it with dark pants, you'll find some of the rug on you when you stand up. I can't return it at this point, so I'm moving it to the guest room which gets only mild foot traffic. I'm not the tidiest person, and even I get embarrassed by the look of this rug most of the time- it gives the impression that vacuuming is a semi-annual event at your house. A rare miss in quality from Martha Stewart, but a big miss all the same."

"I love this rug! It is really gorgeous and I'm thrilled that I bought it. That said, I only knew what the real color was by reading the comments. The comments noting that the color is more of a dove gray than the pictured color have been on this site for a long time but the picture still hasn't been updated. HDC really should update the picture so that people are not surprised by the color.
The rug is beautiful, elegant and well made."

"I was looking for a large transitional rug with three qualifications; it had to be soft, simple in pattern and thick pile. This rug hit the nail on the head. It goes perfectly with everything and is soft, durable and great quality. I highly recommend purchasing the deluxe rug pad (also sold at HDC) to go under it to give it that extra softness and adhesion to the floor. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would certainly recommend this to anyone!"

"This rug is gorgeous. It's thick and soft. I bought it for our bedroom. The only reason we ended up returning it is because the color didn't work. It's really more gray than brown. I wasn't able to read reviews before buying because the link was broken. I thought it would be a little more brown, but this rug is straight up gray."

"The rug looked nice for about a week, and then it began shedding. Additionally, I have a cat and once she began scratching on it it has begun falling apart. I have other rugs in my home, and this is the first one that has held up so poorly - I was very disappointed."

"It feels nice and looks great straight after delivery, but started pulling, snagging and unraveling within the first month or two. (And it's not from misuse or abuse.) It is like a sweater that has come unwoven. It now looks cheap and ratty and needs to be replaced. I've owned it for under a year."

"I am so excited to roll out and use this new rug. I have to say that the other descriptions really helped me because people returned the rug because they said the color was a purple/grey (a bit different than it appears in the photo) and that was the exact color I was looking for. So I am super happy with it, Martha Stewart really knows how to use stunning colors!"

"We bought this rug for our living room, because we needed something light to go with the brown walls and couch. The rug is very pretty and soft. Some of the fibers came off during the first week or so, but after a couple vacummings we no longer have white threads floating around our house. I was a little disapointed with the color. I had thought that it would be a light cream color and its definitely more grayish. It still works with the room though so we decided to keep it. The rug is a little thin so I also highly recommend getting a rug pad underneath."

A Versatile Neutral

"I love this rug! I was hesitant to order online, since the color is so elusive on screen, but I was looking for a fretwork pattern living room rug in a neutral and could find nothing else like it. I ended up with two - one in my living room and one in my bedroom, both in Buckwheat Flour.
It's very soft on the feet, but definitely needs a no-skid pad on wood floors.
Thanks to the previous posters who noted that the rug is one color - a lower pile creates the fretwork pattern. The pattern is more subtle in person that it may appear online.
The color is a versatile neutral. I agree with the poster who said "oatmeal" - think instant. It reads grey-to-brown in my living room with dark wood floors, brown upholstery, ivory cotton curtains, and warm grey walls. In the bedroom with white walls and curtains, it reads more of a soft grey.
Only minus is that the rugs are shedding like the dickens, but I'm hoping that will go away once they're older. I'm willing to swiffer more often for this rug!"

"I really like the look of this rug. However,if you vacuum it is does get pull places on pile. It also sheds a lot. I wouldn't buy it for high traffic area in this color. I would recommend it for the price though."

"This is a beautiful rug, I was so excited when it arrived. The geometric pattern is very striking and I liked the difference in texture between the design and the background. Unfortunately I had to return the rug, the color was not as I had expected (I purchased it in 'Cavern'). The rug has a muted/hazey purple undertone and I was hoping for more of a plain Jane elephant grey. If I could have used it in another room I would have kept it, the color was just wrong for my house!"

"I just received the rug today and was super excited to unroll it. however, after unrolling it, i realized that this rug looks purple!! i ordered the "cavern" shade. I thought it would be more gray/brown, but it's much lighter than the picture, and much more purplish than i thought it would be. its a nice rug and appears to be made well, but the color is all wrong for what i had in mind. getting it ready to be shipped back :("
