"We bought 2 for each side of the fireplace, and they look nice. The assembly was easy and it took me less than an hour on my own. Plus they're the right price!
Negatives: The wood used for the decorative Xs is a little thin, and one broke in shipping. A little glue made it like new because we didn't feel it was necessary to send it all back. Also, the little wood pegs that cover the screw holes were a little too big in some cases, and I made some minor damages to the wood trying to hammer them in with a rubber mallet."

"The bookcase looks very nice but the quality is so-so.It was damaged in shipping but not really too noticable. It was not to difficult to assemble but the allen wrench included hurt my hand. I would recommend it on it's appearance and for the price."

"This bookcase solved the problem of needing more space for my roommate's collection of books. The purchase arrived shortly after it was ordered. It was easy to assemble...it always helps to read the instructions! It is sturdy and not too heavy to move, albeit, the box that the bookshelf comes in is compact and very heavy. It is attractive and goes with the other furniture in the room. Also, the price was just right for what was needed. I am very satisfied with this purchase."

"These shelves work great for us-they are very nice looking for the price. I really like the "X" details on the sides-a feature that was not shown in the catalog. The only snag we ran into was one of the wood pieces that goes on the back had a crooked peg which made it impossible to put in. Overall, they work great!"

"No problems assembling. It's nice but not super nice. My only complaint is that it should be 6-12" taller. We added some tall decorative items to it to enhance the height. Overall, I'd recommend it as an inexpensive option."

"Fairly easy to install (did it myself) and the shelves look good. I just wish they were a little wider for the area I have them in. I have them on a tile floor, if I were to put them on carpet I would definitedly need to use the wall braces (included) to make them more sturdy."

"This product was more difficult to put together than I expected. The Allen wrenches provided did not work well, and we resorted to using our own tools.
Furthermore, a piece of the wood chipped off in the process of trying to put this bookcase together because the hole for the screw was not placed in the correct spot. We had to superglue it back on -- a very disappointing way to begin life with a new piece of furniture. In addition, a small chunk of the stain chipped off in another location as well. Overall the quality of the workmanship was abysmal."

"Bought two of the "walnut" stained units, which were a solid value on sale. Attractive from a few feet away, but up close shows some manufacturing and staining snafus. Second one was easier to put together than the first, but neither was tough. If you have one, definitely use a screwdriver with an allen wrench attachment if at all possible. Overall, pleased but not screaming with joy. :D"

"I bought two but upon inspection I found flaws in the workmanship: such as parts of the wood were not nailed securely, or chips on the inside side panels. I need these to store numerous books that I have so I made some adjustments and assembled them. They look pretty good when I finally got them up, but my hands were sore from using that little l-wrench and tightening the shelves.

"I "picked" out this bookshelf over a year ago and finally purchased 2 this summer. I am satisfied with my purchase, especially when I consider the cost. However, both tops were missing the holes needed to attach the cross supports. I attached the cross supports to the assembled shelf (normally they are attached to the shelf first then attached to the assembled bookcase) and positioned the top, marked the holes and drilled them. The shelves have a top and a bottom, determined by some beveling on the edge, and the bottom was finished better than the top, more varnish.... I considered assembling the shelves upside-down, but decided to leave them in the original position. The instructions were easy to follow, there were enough parts, not one extra, and I have an assembled wood shelf that is attractive and functional. When I was tapping the wooden plugs provided to cover the screws, one shattered so I left it for the bottom at the back."
