Love the idea, not the paint job

"I love the way the bookends look from a distance, but the distressed paint effect could be done better. If I get motivated, I'll repaint them; if not I'll just stand on the other side of the living room!"

Good idea, poor execution

"I like everything about these bookends except the "distressed" finish. Slashes of brown paint at regular intervals make it look ridiculous. Because I do like the basic form, I'll take a can of spray paint to them rather than send back.
Also note that they are fairly light weight, so you won't be using them to hold large stacks of books. More decorative than functional."

"Although these bookends are rather large, occupying 17" of the available bookcase room, they do add a touch of class. Thus I have placed them in the living room supporting some classic novels, and the effect is great."

"I was expecting this to be antique white. It is - but then the manufacturer added brown paint in dashes all over the product. It would have been perfect - great weight, size, etc. - if it wasn't for the brown marks it would be perfect.
