"The unit is exactly what I was looking for and at a good price but it took me a bit more time then I expected to assemble it. you need to commit to the assembly of this unit if you plan to purchase it. It can be a bit frustrating as you move through the assembly."

"This curio cabinet is just what I was looking for. It is very pretty and seems sturdy enough. The 1st cabinet took my husband a long time to put together, but, by the time he got to the 2nd one it was not so bad. Two of the glass pieces arrived broken and were replaced quickly by Home Decorators. Overall very happy."

"The ordered curio in Cherry arrived in about a week. It was a heavy shipment and had a hole punched in side of the box and one corner was crunched in, no thanks to the shipper. Upon opening, 2 of the glass side panels were found broken. After contacting HD for replacement, they promptly shipped the glass panels to me and they arrived in about a week. The packing for all was very good but the rough handling by the shipper to the west coast was no doubt the cause of the initial damage. Assembly was not easy due to the bulkiness of the unit and sequence of instruction. Following instructions got me there but I found trying to assemble this horizontally not very effective. A previous reviewer had suggested building this vertically from ground up and I found this to work much better. This is not something to be done by a novice with assembly and tools. The assembly and movement of the curio can be challenging as I found out and I am quite handy doing such tasks. Some work space will be needed and do not rush as to break your glass or scratch veneer surfaces in the process. The finished unit exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, fit, and finish. Shelf height is adjustable at all but middle level. and it is just beautiful in our living room. A caution to a novice assembler and it should be done with 2 people in bringing the upper and lower components together. It took me longer to accomplish assembly than expected but I am totally satisfied with the finished curio and deem it a good value for the price."

"The boxes are VERY heavy. The instructions are easy to follow, but some of the parts don't fit as instructed. I had to improvise when putting it together. The glass doors were surprisingly quality as well. The mirror was broken when it arrived, but customer service sent out replacements very quickly with little hassle. I purchased 2 units. Overall beautiful piece!"

"I would recommend only if I know the person is somewhat handy. It is a little tricky, but it was not as hard as other reivews said it was. For the price, this is an excellent piece. The delivery was fast."

"Yes, assembly takes some work, and a couple of the pictures are off; just don't put a dowel peg where a cam lock goes. The packaging and labeling of parts and pieces was the best I've ever encountered. The piece itself is beautiful and a great value."

"This cabinet is a good value for the money. I needed something that was a narrow cabinet and this was really the only one I could find after searching the internet for curio cabinets. I knew before purchasing it that assembly was required and reviewed the instructions before purchasing it. It is a solid cabinet once assembled but would highly recommend a second person help with the assembly (although it is not mandatory - I did it by myself) to make it easier."

"This piece is absolutely lovely and everyone who has seen it just loves it. One thing----I could never have put this together without hiring a professional. I have put many other items together, but this was very complicated. It took a contractor 2 1/2 hours to assemble. But, the results are amazing. LOVE it."

"have purchaed items from HD before and had some quality issues, so I wasn't sure about this purchase but decided to go ahead and try because it was on sale. When box arrived, it was torn, but surprisingly ALL the pieces were intact and unscathed. As with others, assembly was not easy, but I was able to manage to put together over the course of a few hours (be prepared, glass is heavy). Finish is pretty even and glass is thick and sturdy. Shelf brackets also fairly ridgid, not flimsy. Only issue is one of the glass doors is slightly warped, but otherwise, nice result!"

"My husband and I purchased the standard cherry Hanley curio. We had a few problems assembling it due to the directions being difficult to interpret. The pictures were not very clear and it seemed that some of the pictures it did include were not written correctly as a few of the holes in the actual product were not in the same place as the pictures. When assembling the sides, a few of the screws were about a cm or 2 too small so my husband had to make a trip to the hardware store to purchase screws that were a little larger. Once he did that the curio seemed to fit together much easier. The finished product looks very professional- not like a 'build your own' product. Overall, we are very satisified with the product. It definitely was worth the price compared to paying at least double for a similiar product."

"Bought 2 of these. The first one was an absolute pain to put together b/c the pegs didn't fit in the holes and the directions were flat out wrong. However, the 2nd one was much easier to put together b/c we knew what to expect."

"Assembly is a nightmare. The parts do not fit, holes for cam screw and wood pegs are not in correct place. I have spent several days myself and then hired a handy person who works with wood, still could not assemble.

"I initially planned to spend much more money on a curio cabinet for my husband's car collection. I decided to give the Hanley Cabinet a try since the dimensions matched so well the space I had chosen for it. I had some doubts. The cabinet arrived and it is lovely. It is well-made and finished beautifully. It looks like a substantial piece, not the usual put-together cabinet. I couldn't ask for a better product or a more reasonable price!"

"I read the other reviews that said how difficult it was to assemble. But my husband is good at these things so I figured it'd be no problem. Well he spent all day yesterday swearing at the thing but finally got it put together. Several of the cam locks broke so he had to run to Home Depot for replacements. He was very annoyed at that on top of having put it almost completely together and finding the directions were wrong so he had to backtrack and start again.
The finished product looks nice and was exactly what we needed to fit a particular corner in the basement so we were willing to put up with the effort considering the low price. I would have paid a bit more for something with better quality and directions though."

"I was pleased to find a contemporary corner unit. I looked in furniture stores and online before finding this one. The quality was a disappointment, however. The smooth black finish had many nicks and gouges that were painted over. The holes for the shelf brackets had been drilled in the wrong place and filled, but poorly painted and stood out so badly that I had to repaint the rail myself to cover them. One shelf and a door were badly scratched and had to be replaced. The only reason I didn't return the whole unit was because I had looked so long to find one. HDC replaced the shelf and door with no questions asked. With some effort I was able to touch up the problems, so in the end I am happy with the final result but a new product should not require this much effort to make it presentable. My advice - inspect every piece carefully before assembling!"
