"I love the style and size of the bookcase. It was easy to put together - I assembled it in under an hour. The only thing I was disappointed in was the color - it was darker/more red than it appeared on-line."

"This product is described on the website as "ash/wood". In fact it is made of MDF (fiber board) with veneer.
We thought we were buying a real wood product and since it is not we are returning it."

"A few years ago, we purchased an artisan double book case in light oak. It had a mission style header at the top, but otherwise it looked just like this bookcase. When we decided to add to our library, we selected 3 of these single book cases, because the double bookcase version wasn't available anymore. The color in the photo and the description of light oak are not true. The new book cases are more of a cherry color and are much darker than the original bookcase we purchased. Also upon assembly, one of the side supports was missing the metal threading for the shelf screw so the screw didn't have anything to catch. This was a bummer because it was the last screw my husband was putting in and the others had already been glued into place.
I would probably buy these shelves again because they are good sturdy quality and will support quite a lot of weight, but buyer beware if you are trying to match up to something purchased from the same company that is a year or more old."

"We purchased the 3-shelf bookcase in light oak for storage of cookbooks. The adjustable shelves easily accomodated typical sized books as well as my "coffee table" sized specialty cookbooks. Both the styling and the color of the finish complement the custom prairie style cabinetry in my home and the height is perfect for a vase of flowers with room left for artwork on the wall above the bookcase. Assembly took less than one hour."

"I bought this piece with the double Artisan bookcase with doors. Both pieces are very attractive and fit my needs BUT they are very poorly engineered and built. This single case had inaccurately drilled holes, the back panel did not fit the space and had to be slightly altered to fit, and the attachment to the wall had a zip tie that was already zipped together and thus not usable. I will think twice before purchasing anything else that has to be assembled. Cheap construction!"

Sturdy bookcase fits in small spaces

"Only 13 inches deep, this bookcase was perfect to put in a hallway while leaving room to walk. It is sturdy enough to hold cookbooks and other substantial hardcover books. The medium finish blends with teak and cherry furniture. The Artisan collection style complements contemporary and traditional furniture, too."

"I thought this was agreat book shelf for the price. It looks really nice and I plan to enjoy it for many years to come. I love mission style and find that the price is usually more that I want to spend. The lower priced pieces usually look lower priced. This one does not I am very pleased with it."

"Assembly was as easy as it gets. If you have ever put together any type of IKEA furniture, this bookcase is assembled in the same fashion. Quality seems OK so far, but I have yet to load this shelf down with any significant weight yet."
