"I am so impressed with this Secretary. I have a home office in the front room of our house and I am trying to keep it organized and sophisticated and not looking like a regular office.
This piece of furniture does the trick. It's a functional desk yet it does not look like it.
As for the assembly, I did most of the work myself, needing husband assistance only during the first few steps and at the end to move it because it does weigh a ton.
This is solid wood and not particle board. The parts were labels clearly, and the hardware was packed in separate baggies. It made the organization for assembly fool proof.
I would definitely buy more furniture from this manufacturer."

"The desk as assembled is as described and does what we want it to do. The workmanship and the parts generally fit as planned. The instructions left something to be desired in that they did not give enough detail on assembly choices. The most egregious example was the hinges for the drop front. There is a right way and a wrong way to put them in but the two sides are the same diameter so they fit either way and the instructions to not mention or show the choice. I spent some time looking at the difference but still made the wrong choice and had to remove and reinstall the hinges. Most of the predrilled holes were in the right place with only minor adjustment needed, no redrilling. I also must have missed the fine print in the ad that told me I had to assemble it myself; the 2 boxes totalling over 150 pounds surprised me. In general the instructions were too condensed and did not really go step by step."

"Like the look of this piece- its attractive but not a hulking piece of furniture. The two file drawers are very useful and provided me ample space to keep my household files organized. Some of the pieces appeared to be slightly off in terms of sizing, however when put together it looks nice overall and the flaws aren't noticeable. It took my boyfriend (who is not overly handly) about 2 1/2 hours to put it together and the directions were straightforward and easy to follow. It helps to have a cordless drill and a level. I do wish the piece was a little bit deeper (its only 16"). 20" would have been a bit more versatile in terms of storing a printer. Otherwise, I'm happy with it."

"This desk is very nice and looks great with the double bookcase I purchased. However, the catalog I ordered from listed the desk as 69" H. The same as the bookcase. That is one of the reasons I ordered this item. All the other ones I could find were not the same height as the book-cases. When we were putting it together it was obviously not the same size. Your catalog was wrong."

"The finished desk looks very good and fits with our other craftsman/mission furniture. The file drawers are are a good feature as they open completely for ease of access. I do worry slightly about how sturdy the drop down desktop may be for actually supporting work; having a pullout support might have been better than just the chain and hardware.
Assembly was not easy and not helped by directions which were confusing at some points; the diagrams are not always complete and don't clearly indicate some important steps. Having assembled similar pieces before was an advantage, as was patience and allowing sufficient time. Also using a ratchet screwdriver was very helpful; an electric screwdriver might have too much torque.
Overall we are quite pleased with this purchase"

"Prior to making my purchase of the desk, I did read the reviews... there was one talking about the difficult assembly and wrong size parts, etc. This is NOT the case... I suspect that was the assembler's mistake. Was this the easiest pre-fab piece of furniture I have assembled? No... but patience and attention to detail go a long way... the finished product is great and it is not easy to detect that this is a pre-fab piece. Very happy with purchase."

"Very difficult to put together, only made more frustrating by the fact that the parts aren't cut correctly - so drawers don't work, and front computer hutch door is at least 1 inch too large and can't shut as is shown to in the picture."
