Poor finish - crumbling off

"Size is 35.5 not 36". This may not sound like much but is significant in circumfrence. It is made of wood but wood grain is painted on. It appears that the peice was painted silver and then had another layer of finish for effect. The top layer had rubbed off in noticible places to expose the silver undercoat on edges and other areas. My fingers were brown from touching it. Might have been a nice peice if not for this issue. Looked like driftwood from a distance - just a little bit darker than depicted. Customer service was polite and helpfull. I will be returning it. Frustrated that I must deal with the manufacturer directly. This will affect my purchases in the future."
