ESSEX FILE CABINET
Organize Easily with a Practical File Cabinet The Essex File Cabinet features small round knobs that are centered on raised panels of the file drawers. Raised panels are also placed along the sides of the file cabinet bordered column edges. Due to a top drawer, this file cabinet is taller and includes more space than the typical file cabinet. Ball-bearing slide drawers. Bun feet. File drawers holds letter- and legal-size folders.

"This file cabinet blends beautifully with our cherry furniture. It is lateral, two file drawers adjacent to two file drawers rather than the less stable long single drawer designed to hold two similar sets of files. The model we purchased has an additional two smaller drawers on the top. With a depth of 3" and a 4" clearance, these drawers are deeper than the lap drawer of my desk and easily accomodate the box of envelopes etc. The file drawers glide smoothly and have metal hangers for hanging files fixed into notches in the front and back of the file drawers. There is a set of notches for standard files as well as a set for legal sized files.
It does require a second pair of hands to assemble. And the file drawers on the right side of ours are off center by a fraction of an inch and so do not completely close. This is barely noticible up close, and not at all from a foot away and my sole complaint."

"We have two of these file cabinets, and they do work well. However, you get what you pay for. They look really nice on the outside, but the inside leaves something to be desired, and they do not glide easily."

"I was in need of more file space and an extra drawer for the little office things. This provided exactly what I needed. I think I could have put it together by myself. I had trouble with one drawer fitting in the rails, but finally got it right. Probably user error - not the product. It looks great in the black. I was surprised at the craftsmanship compared with other on-line furniture purchases. It is VERY GOOD!!! The drawers are completely loaded now and heavy, but it still works GREAT!!!!!!"

"The file cabinet was nice looking but there was a big gouge on one side and dents on the top of one of the drawers. Assembly instructions were confusing, especially the insertion of the cam-lock. Pictures were not that clear or specific."

"I bought three pieces in this grouping and was very pleased. I've bought furniture before to be assembled and often it is servicable for a period of time. But this furniture is solid and well designed. It took two people to put it together but neither of us was a rocket scientist.
The pieces are heavy, sturdy and attractive. A great buy for the price."

"When I saw this cabinet in the catalog, it appeared to be just what I was looking for. Although my husband managed to assemble it alone, it was really a 2 person job. He had to use hand tools b/c power tools would have split the MDF (what it is mostly made of) and stripped the screws. He said to handle it delicately b/c it was not of good quality. Although it is very pretty to look at and the top is large enough to hold my printer, router, modem and phone, those pros don't outweigh the cons. The drawers have ball bearing slides but are still rickety and don't hold as many files as you would expect. The smaller top drawer is useful, but doesn't slide easily. Today when I tried to open the top filing drawer, the knob came off; I had to reach underneath to open it. They're sending a new drawer which my husband will have to assemble. I've had it about 3 weeks. Wonder how long it will last. I'm regretting the purchase even though they refunded $50 of the purchase price. A return is out of the question b/c it has to go back in the original carton. If you're considering this piece, keep looking."

"We ordered these file cabinets for our home office. They looked great on the website, but had no idea how beautiful they actually were until we put them together! They look like much more expensive furniture, and we've already gotten so many compliments on them! The top drawers are a bonus we didn't expect from file cabinets! We'll definitely order more from Home Decorators!"

Not like the beautiful picture. Could be nice but draws have gaps and dont line up so you can see inside inbetween them. Glides are not that great. Very disappointed for the price!!
