ESSEX BOOKCASE W/GLASS DOORS

"We ordered the bookcase to put in the foyer area at the top of our staircase. Looks very rich in the Suffolk Cherry finish. Took about 2 hours from start to finish to assemble. Parts were well labeled and instructions easy to follow. Very happy with the purchase."

complaint is that the case is unstable as constructed moving from side to side at the top 2 or 3 inches. Had to install (separately purchased) a triangulation piece on the back to stabilize it."

"It took about four hours for me to put it together myself--I'm a 5'3" female--it was pretty heavy and I got frustrated with it at times but in the end I was VERY pleased with the way it came out. It looks, to me anyway, like a much more expensive piece than it is. Now I don't have to dust my books off anymore! :)
I guess the only "downside" was that a couple of the shelves had a little cracking on the edges. Once I put them in the bookcase, though, you couldn't see it at all and it didn't change the end result."

"I just completed assembly of this 6 shelf bookcase for an alcove in my sister's home & it looks lovely. It took just over an hour to assemble...My sister helped by holding a few pieces when stabilizing was needed. Product arrived in mostly excellent condition...one piece had a small crack but it was the center bar holding the backing and was not noticeable when completed. Fortunately, I had downloaded and printed the instructions because they appeared to be missing from the packaging. The instructions were pretty clear and the assembly was easy- I rated it moderately easy only because of the large size and the occassional need for the extra set of hands. Overall, a very good value and a very nice looking bookcase. The aged cream color is almost white with very slight "antique" shadings."

"The glass bookshelf looks great and functions very well. The construction has some unique features, such as a back panel that "slides" in (rather than using numerous screws), which allows it to go together very quickly. The glass doors, however, require two people to assemble. All in all, once assembled it looks very good and works well for display or book organization."

"I'm happy with my purchase but I would not have bought at regular price. Had a coupon and with free shipping I save about $100 of the current regular price. Would by another one to balance out the room if I could do so at the same price. I'm concerned about the durability of the finish and the pseudo glass door is loose and a little bit messy when looking from the inside. But for the price I paid is acceptable and it is packaged well to survive the tribulations of transit. Box took a beating, ups does not treat heavy items kindly, but it still arrive unscathed (looking at the box you might wonder)."

"This is hard to assemble and not sturdy. It has to lean against the door frame to stand up straight. Make sure you put the doors on the right sides as they will not latch. The doors don't fit right. Big space at the bottom. But looks pretty."

"We ordered the tall glass-door cabinet to store and display some decorative plates and glasses in our kitchen. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality of the piece. It was exactly what we expected from the photo and details described on the website. My husband does not enjoy assembling furniture, but he said it was relatively straightforward and easy to do. It feels very sturdy and looks great in our kitchen and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone."

"This Bookcase was great for all of my books and scrapbooks.
The only negative thing about the Bookcase was the way it was made. ( A little cheapley made)
The Back of the boards of the bookcase were made from plywood, which when we opened it up, were cracked. The good thing was that it doesn't show, because all the books cover it. The only other downside is the two front wood doors aren't even. But others probably wouldn't be able to notice it.
Other than that it looks great it our office and I love it!! :)"

"I bought the bookcase to go along with the matching desk, file cabinets and end tables. It was pretty easy to assemble and looks really nice. Glass comes already mounted in the doors, so it took my husband about 20 minutes to assemble
The center shelf does not adjust. The rest of the shelves are adjustable.
It is deeper than the dimensions advertised. This is a good thing because I was worried that only 7" would not be deep enough to hold some books. It is actually 10.5" deep so it can hold good size books.
Cons are - design lacks a way to keep it square so the doors do not hang perfectly square. And they changed stains so it does not perfectly match the rest of the items I bought at the same time. I admit I am a bit of a perfectionist. I am the only one that notices the diffferance. Nobody else has ever commented on the stain mis-match."

"When attempting to assemble this bookcase, the first 5 cam nuts I tried crumbled into pieces and therefore I was not able to accomplish the first step of assembly. Fortunately Home Decorators was helpful in allowing me to return the product."

"In the original shipment, 3 major pieces were damaged. They were replaced in another shipment, but then there was another piece that did not fit. We were going to order a replacement for that, but then saw that the whole shelf wobbled so we decided to return it for a refund."
