Sturdy, Nice Looking "Mudroom" Piece

"Was initially skeptical about a mail order, assemble yourself piece for the entryway but have been very pleased with this piece. It is made with heavy wood/particle board and includes enough fasteners/hardware to make it quite sturdy.
The design is very nice, the paint well-done (we have white), making it look more expensive than it was.
It took two of us about 1 1/2 hours (with "help" from the kids) to assemble. Assembly was easy, just a lot to it!"

"The unit was decently easy to assemble. Some of the materials were a bit flimsy, but everything holds together once it is assembled. There are many, many pieces to put together, so it requires a great deal of patience. We only had one small alignment issue when we tried to put the back on, but it looks okay from the front.
We ordered the black one, and it does have that new furniture particle board smell, but it has faded over the past 2 weeks."

"This is a really nice looking hall tree with bench. We purchased the cherry wood finish and are very happy with the color. We put this in a four season patio area and just love it."

"This is the perfect entry way for me. I sit , take off the outside shoes, hang up my coat and place my keys in a basket on the top shelve.

"Part of our difficulty with this piece was getting it into a very tight space. My husband complained about the directions a lot, but stuck with it and said he figured out how to do it by trial and error. The back wall piece is not real wood, but you can't tell once assembled, and we found the hooks to be stronger than described in some reviews. I ended up with the black once, but each color is made of a different kind of wood - which is why prices vary. I called and the CS person was VERY helpful."

"I read the other reviews and thought, okay, this will work in our new mud room. Assembly was terrible. I did most of it, but the thing was so rickety that I knew it had to be reinforced. I called in my husband to help. The particle board just crumbles, the dowels aren't long enough, and it's just a cheap piece of decorative furniture. I will definitely tell my boys they cannot sit on it, and let's hope it can hold their heavy winter coats. I'm very very disappointed, and cannot recommend buying this product. I would sent it back if I kept the boxes."

"I purchased this item to use in our laundry room to store hats and gloves and hang our coats in the winter months. I would agree with most of the reviews written about this product in that assembly is pretty easy but it could take up to 2 hours. The product does have a strong odor from the finish that will fade away after about a week. The overall appearance of this product is very good, the only con is that some of the pieces didn't line up so there are gaps in between molding and shelves of the unit. The drawers are very sturdy and assembled perfectly. Overall, I rated this product a 4 out 5 stars."

Great Cabinet! Beautiful, yet stinky.

"Cabinet is gorgeous - we've received many compliments on it. Serves its purpose well. Hooks can handle a couple of coats and fleeces, and the drawers fit 4 pair of women's shoes.
Our only complaint was the smell. We put it in our kitchen/dining/living room and weren't able to eat in the kitchen for days. We couldn't even put our coats in the cabinet for over a week, because they were absorbing the odor. Really wish it wasn't winter - an open window would have helped a lot.
2 of us put it together in about 2 hours - but a 3rd person is vital for setting the top piece on the bottom. Luckily our daughter was available to tell us when we had the plethora of dowels and holes lined up, because that top piece is heavy.
The instructions say to separate the drawer sliders before assembly, but they were already separated. Otherwise instructions easy to follow.
Packages well in 2 heavy boxes. Thankfully UPS put them right where we wanted them. No damage and all pieces fit well."

"Ordered the polar white and was concerned it would not be a white/white. It is! My husband put it together in a little of two hours. He said the instructions were easy to follow and pieces were marked very well. It was also packaged very well. Only one problem. The top and bottom back pieces didn't come with screws. We had to improvise and that worked out okay. It looks and functions very well."

Started putting it together with my husband...discovered that there were missing screw holes in one back panel of the piece, also had trouble with the bottom drawers...drawers still are not going in, (only one goes in). Going to call today to see if I can get some help with it. I think the piece is overpriced for what it is.....Probably should have just gone to a store and purchased one and had it delivered.
Once I eventually get it all put together, hopefully I will find the purchase useful.."

"I think the Home Decorators people need to get to the bottom of a very serious problem with this unit...the SMELL! It off-gassed for days, which is really ridiculous in this age of low VOCs and allergy-free living. It's a great-looking piece of furniture, with a few little spots looking a bit off, but it works well for hanging coats and backpacks. But if you have allergies or scent sensitivities, don't get this unit."

"We received our shipment very quickly- in just days- and everything was packaged very well. My husband put this together so I can't say much about the ease of assembly, but I smelled it as soon as I entered our house. The piece is in a large area, and yet the odor was overwhelming. I ran the exhaust fan in our kitchen (the adjoining room) and put the bottom drawers outside to air out. The weather was cold outside, but I had to periodically open the doors to "air out." It has a strong chemical smell, which I can only assume is from the stain. We ordered the black color. It is a very attractive piece, and just what we need for coats & backpacks. The quality is good for the price- the back piece is a little thin. If you order this I suggest putting it together in the garage, and letting it air out for a week or so. I can still smell it somewhat 3 weeks later, however not nearly as bad."

"This was just what I was looking for. Looks great, and the kids are able to hang their coats, and organize other items in the drawers. Love it!

"This piece was exactly what I was looking for. It stands beside the garage door coming into the mudroom which is connected to my laundry room. It holds my dog clothes, leashes,spurs gloves and hats in the drawers and I hang up my coats and purse on the hooks. The cubbies hold mail to go out and knickknacks, and there is room to put something on top for decoration (i have 9' ceiling in that room.
There were two disappointments: It arrived several days later than originally estimated and when it arrived it still smelled like it just left the finishers booth. It was quite strong but luckily I can air it out some each day by opening the window right next to it."
