"This dresser looks nice once its all put together. The drawers dont slide open very easily and it was kind of a pain to put together, but I dont expect much from such an inexpensive product."

"I do think this to be worth almost 5 stars. But I have to agree with some other writers who say the drawers are annoying. This drawer design has been around for a long time and probably isn't going anywhere. The solution to its being sticky is the use of a sliding compound (aka Slip It). It works well and I can open and close the drawers no problem with one hand. Personally, I put the compound on the inside of the cabinet but if its assembled, and you don't want to pull the stops out of the drawers then I guess just brush it on the drawers. I hope this helps some of those who are unhappy.
I also covered the top with glass as my children are hard on the yellow pine I think it is.
Bottom line, for the price and the sliding compound I would recommend these to a friend easily."

First, the Good

"I thought I'd start with the good first. This is a lovely piece of furniture. The color is a rich reddish-cherry, it has some nice details, nice quality overall.
The bad? The assembly! In what world did this take 50 minutes to put together?!? It took that long just to get the dowels into the frame. It takes two people to hold the pieces together while you put in the screws - and if they aren't holding it straight then you'll wind up with edges that don't meet or other problems! And don't get me started on the screws. They are installed at such an angle that you can't get them to go in all of the way, which means the pieces aren't together straight or snugly. I tried using a drill but that meant I was damaging the wood. So you can only use a drill to screw them in part of the way, and then you have to rely on muscle to get them in the rest.
I spent three hours just getting the frame together, and am now faced with the daunting task of assembling the drawers. Frankly, I'm so exhausted from the frame I don't have the heart (or energy) to start the drawers.
So, in a nutshell, it'll probably look great when it's done, if I ever find the motivation to finish it!"

"This dresser was a decent value for the purchase. On the plus side, the pieces are real wood and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the drawer pulls were not nearly as tacky as I had anticipated (I planned on replacing them and elected not to). However I was surprised at the dark finish of the piece--I didn't feel the image online accurately reflected the tone--and I was very disappointed to find that the drawers weren't on rolling sliders, which made them a real pain to pull out. I had planned on using this dresser in my toddler/infant's room, where the ability to pull out the drawer with one hand would be useful; as it is I struggle to pull out each drawer with both hands. We are frequent Home Decorator's customers and I am more disappointed in this item than I have been with any other purchase."

"We were looking for a double sided dresser for my son's room that was reasonably priced that looked great. We found it with the Hawthorne dresser line. The cherry wood is solid and the stain is lush. My husband is a carpentar and was able to assemble the desk in approximately 2 hours - for someone who is not as handy it might be a challenge. Once assembled all draws fit in the dresser fairly well. One recommendation is the dresser drawers would include sliders so the drawers can be retrieved easily. Overall, the dresser visually looks well made."

"We love this furniture! Solid materials, straight forward directions and fast shipping. No problems assembling the furniture whatsoever. I was glad to have a cordless screwdriver because there are many screws...so invest in one if you don't have one. Besides, you can use it to build the matching side tables. It is nice to see affordable furniture made of real wood. Would certainly recommend this line to anyone."

"5th piece in this collection that we have purchased and we like the look and quality. Only a few divits on a couple surfaces probably from shipping and one spot where the finish looks a little uneven in the shine. Over all nice looking furniture for the price."

"The assembly wasn't difficult. I only rated it moderately easy because it was a bit time consuming. It goes MUCH faster with an electric drill!
I love the dresser! It looks great and is holding up well. Just so you know, the drawers do not have metal drawer slides. They pull out easily, though."

"The finished product is very nice, but getting it together is a long ordeal. I had trouble with the screws for the drawers. They seemed too long and stopped halfway in. I used shorter ones that I had and it worked fine.

"This is a pine dresser from Brazil. It takes about 4 hours to put together (versus the bizarre 50 minutes that is advertised on the instructions). A con is that the drawers (which you need to put together from scratch) don't have any kind of rollers plus they have permanent stops (if you put them in correctly) that make it impossible to take the drawers out.
Otherwise it looks nice but isn't a particularly good value. I'm not sorry I purchased it but wished it was a bit easier to assemble and was cheaper considering my labor."

"This was a beautiful item but I don't reccomned unless you have a spare couple of hours. My sister and brother in law set it up. What they told me was the worst part of putting it together was there were no predrilled holes. There were 48 screws and all of them had to be hand screwed. You had to create your own holes. On the instruction manual it said 50 min to set up it took them several hours. The next day I put the knobs on. Even that was a challenge. And I am mechanically inclined. Again no predrilled or starter holes. It is a beautiful item though. Purchase at your own risk."

"We love the appearance of this dresser and it still looks brand new after several months of use. Parts were nicely packaged, instructions were clear; however, assembly was a little more time consuming than anticipated. Some people might consider the assembly challenging."
