"We had purchased three of the larger configurations of this Mission Style Bookshelf over the past few years, and found them to be great. I now needed a tall narrow shelf for a corner area, so this 14" was perfect.
These shelves are made of real wood, not sawdust and finished nicely. The assembly is quick and easy, as the predrilled holes make it foolproof. Once assembled, these shelves look more expensive than they are. We chose the Honey Oak finish and it is nicely done. The shelves are sturdy enough to hold a lot of books. Our 36" wide versions have been filled solid with books for several years with no bowed shelves. Nice product, attractive look, good value."

"Assembling this bookcase was a bit complicated, but the instruction sheet which I downloaded from your site and also came with the item was very helpful. I like to put things together, so it wasn't as difficult for me as it might be to a novice assembler. It is well constructed and very sturdy, but the finish is not as smooth and polished as I had expected. It goes well with the other bookcase that I purchased at the same time."

"It would take very little to make this a really good piece of furniture. Use a slightly harder wood less prone to scratches. Mine was stained over the scratches. Make sure the dowels were in the right place. I had to use a wood file to adapt to bad placement. Still, it is going in a dark corner and looks good from a distance, so I am satisfied. I am not a hex wrench fan, I think they strip out if there is much resistance, and I wouldn't recommend to anyone who didn't have some wood-working tools to correct any problems."

"I purchased this bookshelf to go in a very narrow space to display model cars in my son's room. It is the perfect size and my 10 year old and I assembled it with only some final touches from my husband needed. If I were using it for books I would make sure to attach it to the wall to keep it from falling over. It is an attractive piece that matched the furniture already in the room."

"I bought this shelf to go in my master bathroom to hold towels and toiletries since there is no linen closet. I liked that this shelf was made of wood so that in the event that the room gets too humid, I will be able to repaint it. While the shelves are only about 8 inches deep, it still holds the big bath towels if I let them hang out the back. I am 34F and assembled it myself no problem."

"Very inexpensive bookcase. Nicely done with solid wood, not particle board. Perfect for tight areas and sturdy. The honey oak finish doesn't really match my other oak furniture because no grain is visible, but it's close enough for the price.
Ladies, get a guy to assemble this for you. It's a lot of screws and if you don't have good grip strength, it won't be sturdy feeling.
I'm very pleased with it and the quality."

"While I truly like the look of the assembled product, I couldn't give this five stars because of issues with assembly. It is definitely a two-person job and it seems a higher level of attention to quality/detail might have helped--the holes and pegs for the shelves did not always "match up" and some of the pegs used to cover up the screws simply did not fit, so it's a good thing that the left side of my unit is against a wall as I don't have enough pegs to fill up all the holes.
All-in-all, though, this is a great unit for the price."

"I like the looks of this bookscase. There is some oak look graining on the bookshelf,but not as much as on an oak piece. But I like it next to my light oak furniture and photo frame in the entryway/kitchen. Assembly for me was a little chanllenging. I proped up each side against a chair to attach the crossbars to the side panels. I was afraid the crossbars would break if I did not. I attached the shelfs next. Things went ok when I started at one end and assembled as i movedup the piece but seem to remember having to loosen a screw on the cross bars to insert and attach each next shelf. I would give the overall rating a 5 but feel it needs one piece of backer booard to give it a more sturdy feel. I may try to attach one to the back support slats."

"I wanted to have some bookshelves surrounding my tv area in my living room, but don't have much wall space. I decided to try the 14" wide bookcase on one side of the TV and the 28" wide on the other side. It fits my space perfectly and looks great! Shelves were fairly easy to put together. For the wider shelves it definitely needs 2 people to hold the shelves steady during assembly, but the directions are clear and it was not difficult at all. I put the 14" shelf together myself and did fine alone. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase."

"My new place has two odd recessed nooks on either side of the fireplace, and these narrow bookshelves fit perfectly! Since I own thousands of books for my career, good,solid bookshelves are a must. But since I would rather spend more money on books than on shelves, I was thrilled with the sale price of these items. They were extremely easy for me to assemble all by myself, and I had no trouble with holes or pegs not lining up. I am generally handy, but I cannot see anyone having too much trouble with them."

"Received this item quickly. The only extra tool I needed was a Phillips screw driver for 4 screws. I put it together myself. I had no problems with parts or the instructions. The shelf itself looks great. It is a perfect size for a small space. I bought it for my cookbooks and it fits in perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shelf."

"The book shelf fit perfectly in the space. It was easy to assemble. I would recommend being careful assembling because the wood seems to split easily. I was able to glue split with no problem. I would buy the shelf again, in fact I plan to order another one for another tight spot."
