"I love this Mission Bookcase! Bought the tall one for a corner of the kitchen to hold cookbooks. My only gripe is that I ordered walnut for a brown color and it's definately a red (cherry) color. I read another review where the oak was orange-y so I steered away from that color choice. In spite of that, I really like how it looks. Works for me."

"Good product for the price. I was disappointed in the color--I chose oak, which actually looks very orangey. Had I seen the color in person, I probably would have chosen the walnut. This shelf is for our laundry room, so it's not a huge deal. My husband said it was a piece of cake to put together--took him 30 min. Seems sturdy and functions as expected."

"This was fairly easy to assemble using some Elmer's wood glue and a screw gun. Some of the holes had to be drilled a bit more as the screws did not screw all the way in without that. They look great where I put them. I screwed them to the wall to secure them."

"I have other shelves of this same type from Home Decorators that I have ordered over the years. The quality seems to be slipping to me. The finish seems damaged on parts of the shelves. The holes and parts were not accurately machined to be uniform. It did assemble and it is adequate but disappointing."

"I've been looking for a narrow bookcase in which to put my cookbooks in the limited space of my kitchen. This fills the bill. It looks good and the construction seems solid. My only complaint is that the assembly instructions were not clear about which side of the shelves was "up". Once I got it assembled, I decided I had it backwards, but I wasn't about to disassemble the whole thing. It'll do."

"I have several bookshelves from this line that I got at HDC some years ago, and they are great -- sturdy, well-made, and attractive. I was expecting the same quality, but I guess times have changed. This bookshelf is flimsy, dirty and dented right out of the box, and a complete pain in the neck to assemble. (And I've assembled a lot of furniture.) The "honey oak" color is a garish orange. The finish is rough, as if the wood wasn't sanded before the stain was applied. Construction is sloppy and materials cheap. Given all its faults, the piece is overpriced, even when on sale.
This item is suitable for a college dorm room or maybe your basement, but not for a grown-up's living room.
I'd return it if shipping didn't cost so much. I will not shop at HDC again for fear of what kind of quality might arrive inside that box."

"I am sitting here admiring my bookcase. Not only did it match my hutch and cabinet in style but the stain matches perfectly. I put it together in less than 2 hours with the tools provided and used a drill to secure it to the wall after it was assembled. I am pretty handy at such things, but I think just about anyone could put this together quickly and easily. I did purchase the taller, less wide shelf unit, not the one pictured; mine has 5 shelves."

"This piece fit in a little niche we had in our office. It serves it's purpose, filled the spot, and looks nice. We store little books and a few light deco items on it. The only negative is that it's a little wobbly. It won't hold a LOT of heavy books."

"This is the perfect size to fit into a narrow space. It didn't take too long to put together; it does wobble a bit and had to be stabilized with a small piece of cardboard under one leg. It looks like a much more expensive piece of furniture."
