"The space on each side of our flat screen TV is limited, so we needed some type of narrow shelving or towers on which to put our DVDs, books, remotes and other items that would fit into that area. We looked at many units in well known outlets and on line. We have a mission style TV table and these bookshelves matched perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised at the workmanship--the shelves were beveled instead of having flat edges, the screws were countersunk into the shelving so they don't stick out, the stain was nicely done. My husband is handy so this was a "no-brainer" for him and the shelving units went together fairly quickly and easily. I would say if someone were not handy, that they could still put the unit together fairly easily--it just may take a little longer. The purchase price was very reasonable compared to what we were finding elsewhere. If you are looking for a tall, narrow bookshelf, this is the unit for you. The only suggestion would be to attach the unit to the wall if you get the very tall one as it could become unstable if heavy objects were placed on the top, such as a large potted plant, etc. But this doesn't reflect on the quality of the product, just the law of physics--narrow and tall with weight will tip. We love both bookshelves and how nice they look on each side of our flat screen TV."

"We purchased two of the three shelf 14 inch wide bookshelves for my wife's cookbooks and placed them as accent pieces on either side of an antique jelly cupboard in our breakfast nook. All parts and decent instructions made assembly easy. A very sturdy and functional assembled piece resulted from 10 minutes worth of work The overall appearance is good and we were pleased that the color was true to the pictures on-line and in the catalog. The finish work, although acceptable, was not consistent on all surfaces. Overall, these are the best value we found after searching for some time in stores, catalogs and on-line."

"I purchased the three and two shelf models and am very pleased with both. The quality is excellent and they are a great addition to our study. The only complaint is the cheap allen wrench which comes with the bookcase. I had to get another wrench to complete assembly. Aside from that minor complaint, I definitely would buy this fine product again. By the way, Home Decorators continues to be an excellent source of nice furniture at a reasonable price. Shipping was super fast with FedEx."

"Assembly took @ 45 minutes, and that was only because I had to reset the shelves. It doesn't say (and I didn't realize) that the beveled edge of shelves goes down (not up). Oops. Also I was forwarned by other reviewers about the caps that go over the screws. They won't stay by themselves, so just put them in with a bit of wood glue and that was that.

I did alot of comparative shopping before deciding on this bookcase as it fit the small space I needed it for, and the value was extremely good.

It is a very sturdy good looking piece of furniture. Comes with wall brackets for extra security. I am extremely pleased with this purchase!"

"This
is my second purchase from Home Decorators. As with the bench I
purchased several months ago, the finish left much to be desired as did
the quality of materials. The assembly instructions were not very
detailed. The hex tool was exceedingly cheap and the edges rounded off
so quickly that I was unable to finish the assembly without using my
own. Also, the dimensions were not accurate, as the width and depth only
apply to the very top and not even the outside dimensions of the actual
shelves. Thus, as I purchased the unit for towels in the bath, I have
had to do some creative folding to make the towels fit! As stated by
others who purchased the bookshelf, the buttons for covering the screw
holes need to be glued in, yet glue is not provided as with most other
ready-to-assemble furniture. If it were not for the fact that this was
the only piece I was able to find that would fit in our bathroom I
would probably return it."

"I'm happy with this for holding books and papers in my office. It looks very nice. I do have a large heavy file folder in the bottom shelf, though--this wouldn't be that steady without something heavy on the bottom. The wood is a lighter than I expected for walnut, but pretty. Installing the decorative buttons at the edge of each shelf was a pain. They had to be glued in very carefully because so many of them were not evenly cut on the bottom. They're in nonetheless and I should get a lot of good use out of this."
