"There are many products like this one out on the market but this is one of the best. The item has a very nice finish to it and is quite sturdy. This is my second one. I purchased them to replacement old pressboard bookcase that finally just wore out. They are easily assembled by one person: took under an hour. They have a simple elegance about them that is especially appealing. I would recommend them to anyone. I plan to get more in the future."

"I bought two of these shelves some months back and just ordered a third. They went together easily - clear instructions and no misaligned holes as in some other products I have had. Nice sturdy shelves made of solid wood - they are loaded down with books and have not bowed at all - they are attractive and well made."

"This is a sturdy, attractive open design bookcase that was an added addition to existing bookshelves. It looks great and was fairly easy to assemble by one person; however two gets the job done faster. All parts and instructions were in order and the cost was reasonable too."

"This shelf looks okay but not quite as substantial as other, similar bookcases we have. The sections have fairly obvious joints between the sections of wood, the finish is easily damaged (box was gouged on arrival and one shelf has a chip as a result), and the case sways a bit if it is standalone. We would have gotten two fold-up bookcases, which I have found to be sturdier, and stacked them, but we're in earthquake country now and wanted a once-piece tall bookcase. Oh well."

"The bookcase looks good, but it is not meant to hold much or be moved once it is put in place. Assembly takes time because the screws are difficult to put in place with the small tool provided. I have two shelves of books on it now and it shakes when I pull one out to use. That's not because I did not assemble it correctly, but because its design is poor and the materials and connections are flimsy. So, it looks great in the corner of my office but I will not be ordering another one."

"I bought one of these bookcases about 10 years ago. It is still standing solid. When I needed another bookcase, I went online and searched for Mission-style bookcase and found the very same kind (or at least I was hoping it was exactly the same). As you can tell from the photo, it IS the same, and I set them up side by side so it looks almost like one case.
I had a little trouble putting it together; it would have been very simple with two people. The directions were good, the parts were all there, and everything fit together just the way it was supposed to.
For the price, I don't see how you could do any better. If I need a third bookcase, this one's going to be it."

"I did not have multiple hundreds of dollars to purchase mission-style bookcases for my room, so I was delighted to find shelving that met my aesthetic requirements and yet did not break the bank. The shelves arrived in well-constructed boxes, and the contents were well protected. Assembly was relatively easy. All holes lined up, and with the exception of dowels on one back brace that were slightly misaligned, there were no problems putting it together.
My only disappointment was with the size of the shelves: the description for all these bookshelves gives figures that are actually the outside dimensions of the MANTEL (top), which is quite different from the shelf size. I needed shelves that were 12" deep (so albums and other items would not hang off the front of the shelf). To my dismay, I found that the shelf is 11" deep, but due to the back brace, only 10-1/4" is usable. So my albums hang over the front edge of the shelf by close to 2".
I would have returned the shelves except for one thing: after extensive web searches, there do not appear to be many choices in mission-style shelves with deep shelves -- at least not in a price range I can afford. So I have kept these units (this 3-shelf unit and a 5-shelf unit). I am happy with the way they look, and they are sufficiently sturdy for my needs."

"The bookshelves themselves are excellent and certainly worth the price. They are solid wood rather than a wood product. Constructed of smaller pieces that are joined together, the workmanship is good and the joints themselves are not apparent unless you look closely. A good and inexpensive way to build a solid wood item by joining smaller leftover pieces to create larger ones. The over all appearance and finish are very good. HOWEVER, two of the uprights arrived with some very noticeable damage. They must have been damaged at the factory as there was no outside damage to the shipping cartons. It appears as though a metal rod had punctured the wood, splitting the end of one piece and denting the other. They were repairable with super glue and wood putty but it did take some doing to make it serviceable and not so noticeable. It wasn't worth the trouble to try and return them for replacements.
Once constructed, the shelves are sturdy, well made and can hold some weight. They do look good and the spacing between the shelves is such that they will hold very tall books easily."

"Already had a smaller version of this case and ordered 3 5-shelf cases as a result. Overall, a nice, completely wood bookcase that would suit almost any decor. Of the 3, condition on one was perfect, one developed a small crack at screw site upon assembly (not serious) and third had a few surface finish issues. Contacted customer service and received satisfactory reply in re: surface issues. Four stars for the surface issues, but otherwise a solid choice."

"I purchased two of these bookshelves for my living room. They were simple to put together. I would recommend two person assembly, since you have to line up all the holes and dowels on a side. They look very nice. The color is not as honey colored as I would have liked, it is a little reddish, but they go well with the other oak furniture."
