Higher Quality Than Expected

"This chair is a quality piece, especially the wooden parts and their finish. I was disappointed however with the casters for three reasons. Their shiny brass finish is not in keeping with the craftsman style. They should have been all black to match the black iron hardware used elsewhere in the collection. The casters, depeding upon their position relative to the chair (either canted forward or backward) cause the chair to be tilted sideways a few degrees much of the time. The casters have somehow lost three ball bearings which I found rolling around beneath the chair on the tile floor."

"What a great chair! It adjusts, swivels and rocks and matches the decor. The black leather seat is firm and comfortable as is the back. The only issue is that if you want the arm rests to fit under the desk, they are too high. If that is not a problem for you then this is the chair to buy. It is an excellent value."

Decent chair

"Chair is nice and was easy to put together. I took off a star in the rating because of all the styrafoam and the fact that I had to spend 15 minutes vacuuming and cleaning the chair to get all the styrafoam pieces off."

Nothing but repair

"My wife and I got one of these about 2 years ago and it is one of the worst purchases we have ever made. First of all, the casters started shedding ball bearings over time so that eventually the rollers do not roll at all. About every two months the chair has to be flipped over to have it's hexagonal bolts tightened back up (must be the old world craftsmanship). One arm has now broken off altogether. This is a cheap, mass-produced knock-off. Buyer beware."

Looks great, but...

"it doesn't hold up to regular use. The post screw is stripped, so it won't stay at full height. Once re-adjusted, the locking ring doesn't work, either.

Also, I've had to go to hardware store on two occasions to purchase screw/washers for it after they worked themselves out.

I've found this to be be the case with several products from this catalog. If it looks too good to be true..."

Does Not Hold UP

"About 1 year after owning this chair - it just doesn't hold up to the wear that a desk chair receives. Tiny ball bearing are dropping from the mechanism and now after 3 years I am having to use a cushion to hold up to the chair. I do not use this except at my summer home for 2-3 months out of a year."

inadequate padding

"This chair looks exactly like what I wanted it to look like, so it looks fantastic. But after sitting in it for about 2 weeks, I noticed the padding didn't hold up. Upon further inspection, I noticed that there is no support under the padding. I am just sitting on foam suspended in midair by the frame. There should be a wood panel or something right under the padding for it to feel right. Right now the padding is concave from having sat on it for about 2 weeks."

"Very attractive well built piece. Comfortable and functional. Be careful with the wood color. It is more red than what appears in the catalogue. I wish the bottom actually permanently connected to the top part. The top piece simply sits on top of the other piece."

"We bought the Craftsman swivel desk chair to go along with a Craftsman secretary desk. It looks good and matches the desk but it isn't very comfortable. There isn't enough padding in the seat - you can feel the back edge of the seat frame across the front. There was also a small nick at the front of the right arm, although we can probably touch this up. We're not sure if all of the chairs are like this, but we wouldn't recommend it unless you're trying to match other Craftsman furniture."

"The chair I purchased was for my home office, however, I beleive it would fit into any setting where good looks, functionality, and quality are important. It was so easy to assemble and certainly has the craftsman quality that is desired in one of a kind purchase. The finish was faultless, and the covering of the seat was of high quality material and workmanship."
