Beautiful End Table Date: February 8, 2010
"We love this end table. It looks lovely in our living room. The finish was a little redder than we expected but we've gotten used to it. My husband put this together in about an hour with no problems. We've already ordered more items from the Craftsman collection to complete our living room."

Craftsman tables Date: December 17, 2009
"Most of my livingroom is from the Craftsman collection and so I was used to the fact that the pieces came in many, many pieces. The instructions were surprisingly easy to follow.

The tables are handsome, heavy and sturdy. The various components, drawers, etc. are well constructed. The only quibble - the photographs in the catalog make them look much smaller than they are.

"I can see why people had problems with assembly. The instructions contained some errors, which I'd like to address. The real assembly work begins on page 5 & immediately the panels are misidentified. Side panels are 4 & 5, not 3&4 as given. Only 7 dowels are needed, and one must be careful to place only one in each side panel and bottom panel. Four go in the cross bar as shown. I had extra dowels & it was tempting to place them in other holes. Don't do that. On p.6 be sure that the screw cam-bolts go only in the 4 corners, not the center holes. On p. 7, I would recommend gluing both ends of each dowel, not just one end per the instructions. I found it best to skip instr #6 on p.10 and go to #7 on p. 11. Trying to hang the door as instructed is nearly impossible, especially when working alone. First, attach the back panel, second, remove the shelf if installed previously; third, lay the table on its right side; forth, attach hinges to the door; fifth, with the floor supporting the door, attach the door to the right side. Be prepared to drill an 8/32 hole or 2 for the hinges.
I had to drill only one hole even after tapping the door with a mallet. The drawing on p. 10 of the hinges is backward, or the hole pre-drilled were backward. The finished product looks handsome. I'm an experienced craftsman & it took me working alone 1 hour, 45 minutes. Be advised that this table is heavy -- shipping weight is 90 lbs.

"Being given the choice of sizes, finishes, door and drawer treatments, and shelf treatments Home Decorators provides the variety and selection that allows me to be very picky and find the piece that best suits my needs. This magazine table serves triple duty as an end table, clutter reducer, and stash for two notebook computers. It's styled to match other pieces I'm using and fits perfectly. Ordering, shipping, and delivery was a cinch. Assembly took two hours and the finished piece is substantial."

"very difficult to assemble especially the door hinges. had to have a carpenter finish it for me.
i am 66 years old and did not have enough strength in my hands and arms. that was the only problem, everything else was great. i would recommend this to my friends and family.

Awesome Table Date: April 6, 2009
"I purchased this table to sit next to my husband's recliner. It took a bit to put it together and the granite was heavy. He could not help because of a recent knee replacement but sorted the items and read the directions. Although a bit difficult to put together and the hinge directions were incorrect, once done it is awesome. I would certainly purchase from Home Decorators again and again!!!"

Nice for the price Date: February 26, 2009
"This was pretty simple to put together. My only complaint is the McIntosh Oak finish seems to be wearing off on a few places on the piece. I am going to look for one of the touch-up markers in a similar shade to try and touch-up the places that the stain is coming off. All in all a pretty nice piece of furniture for the price."

Where does it say "You have to build it?" Date: January 16, 2009
"If I had had any idea that we would have to put this item together from scratch, I NEVER would have purchased it. We have spent two days on it, have borrowed a drill, and it still isn't together! It's made in China...the wood is cheap and has flaws in it. The directions are not clear and are not complete. One critical piece (with the magnet for the door) could go in several different ways. We had a 50-50 chance of doing it right. We did it wrong and then couldn't get the table apart to correct the error! So we are having to drill some new holes and improvise. It will take a miracle to get the hinges on straight!

No, we are not handy, and that's why we never would have purchased this if we had known what were getting into. I've had my eye on a desk elsewhere in the catalog, but after this, never again!
