"I am very happy with this ladder bookcase. Exactly what I was looking for. Fairly easy for one person to put together. Took me a couple of hours, but no real problems and turned out very nicely."

"The bookcase looks good and is stable. The instructions were clear but looked so easy that I didn't follow them exactly and had to take it apart once to get the top shelf in, as there wasn't enough room to slide it in after the sides were on. I also dropped one of the shelves and knocked a small chunk out of it, but it's not particularly noticaable. None of this was the fault of the shelves or the instructions."

"The workmanship on this bookshelf for it's value is great. I am very pleased with the piece except for the color. Be careful when picking your color. The Dark Walnut is NOT dark. It is medium with a hint of cherry. I have to say I am disappointed with the color. I still love the piece but, may end up painting or re-staining it darker."

"The book shelf is very good looking! Unfortunately, there is no real instructions for assembly. There is only a packing list of the items sent and a very brief description of the assembly. It really does take more than one person to assemble easily. I did not have any help so putting it all together and holding the shelves in place while screwing the screws into the back of the unit and trying to keep the locking nut locked (they don't stay locked) was a challenge."

"I like the modern look and the color of this bookshelf, and my cutting machine fits well which was why I wanted to buy the item. However, putting it together was a little challenging. The printed directions were minimal and resulted in the shelf pieces falling onto each other at one point, which broke the top shelf. I was pretty upset about this, but we repaired it and it looks OK now. I think the directions could be better and more detailed. Just have a helper hold your shelf pieces while you put the end pieces on. The lower shelves hold a good amount of my craft items which has freed up working space on my table. Overall, its a good buy!"

"I first ordered the "dark walnut" shelf but when it came it was colored more like cherry red, sent that back (had to pay own shipping:-( and ordered the black instead. The shelves are fairly sturdy, easy to build. It looks great in my space. Didn't like how the predrilled holes were chipped out, but this is never seen once together. The design is clean enough that it goes in almost any room in my house, which is great since I like to move furniture around often."

"The ladder shelves are well packaged, designed for easy assembly, and look very rich when in use.
The only issue was a few screw holes that were not properly counter sunk. No big deal. Extra fasteners were included which is a great idea."

"Three of the five shelves did not fit so in the process three of the shelf braces broke. I used a hand screw driver and ALL of the screws striped out. Overall VERY pour quality and VERY cheap made..."

"I'm an interior decorator and was planning a recent design for a client. I wanted to incorrporate a free-standing bookshelf into the design and immediately started searching for one on the net. I had seen one in Pier 1 that I liked, but it was pricey. When I ran across the ladder style, I knew that it would be perfect. I was satisfied with the price, especially since there was a sale going on. On the day of the design, we opened the box and were happy to find no damage and all of the pieces. My contractor had no problems putting it togther and it was a pefect fit for the entry. Designer's note: you don't always have to buy a corner shelf for a corner, take a shelf like this to fill a corner that may swallow up smaller items."

"I have been looking for a ladder shelf for quite some time. This one is perfect! I knew I didn't want one that leaned up against the wall so this one fit my needs to a tee. It is sturdy, yet light weight enough I could move it around the room easily once it was assembled. I will probably order another one for my son's bedroom, it also fits the decor of any room. I am VERY HAPPY with my shelf and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!"

"This bookcase looks great and is very sturdy once assembled. I love the size ( wider than most ladder shelves I looked at) and the colour is lovely too. I was a little disappointed when it first arrived because one of the pieces had a large scratch but I never called Customer Service because I realized that once assembled, the gash was not visible because one of the shelf pieces fits directly over it. Great value for the price overall-I would buy another one."

"My sister picked this out for her Xmas present. I saw it on line and it looked nice, but nothing great. When she put it together, it was stunning! Perfect size, perfect color and it accented her living room, not only by holding some great personal items, but by the bookshelf itself.

"Good buy, nice looking but impossible to put together with 1 Allen wrench. You need an electric drill and power screwdrivers in order to assemble. Took a lot longer to put together then anticipated. Nice amount of space for display purposes."

"First, the ladder arrived with pieces broken. New pieces sent. Set up was NOT easy. A lot of improvisation needed. Tool that was sent for screws was wrong size, holes didn't line up properly. Overall quality VERY POOR! Very disappointed. I have ordered from Home Decorators before and have been happy with purchases. This bookcase is very poor quality. Way too expensive."

"The shelves on this bookcase, especially the top two, are very narrow and are not capable of holding average-sized books/items. Overall quality of construction is nice, but would not recommend for anything other than displaying small items."

"While the appearance of this wide ladder shelf is good, it's quality... not so great. Painted particle board. Guess I can't expect too much for this price point.
Fortunately it's a shelving unit, so basically, when you put it together and load it with your "whatevers" you don't really mess with it much except for dusting. So all-in-all, it's ok.
