"I just recently purchased 3 of the cookies-n- cream colored shag rugs, although the colors isn't exactly what I was expecting I really love these rugs. I have 2 large dogs and 1 small dog and this rug doesn't show ANY hair, dust or dirt. The color has more of a cream and reddish tint, but it works well with my decor. No pad needed either."

"We've had this Ultimate Shag rug in Cookies & Cream in our living room about 6 months and LOVE IT. It feels great on the feet. Our rug has a 70+ lb medium-haired puppy on it with all her paraphernalia most days -- and it still looks great! I'd definitely buy it again."

"Rug was extremely easy to take out of packaging and lay down. I don't have furniture on it but I still do not need padding because it doesnt slip. True to picture, Oatmeal was ivory with tan pieces throughout so two tone- not solid. Great quality for price, very soft and long shag which is what I wanted."

"I have the 8' in Ocean Blue. The color is almost exactly as shown. The rug is super-soft--perfect for my baby to play on, although we usually lay a blanket down so he doesn't try to eat the fibers! You definitely don't need a pad. They say it is machine washable which would be a plus if there was a washing machine large enough to hold it... We haven't noticed shedding shedding unless you're sitting on it wearing black. Haven't really tried to clean it yet but I'm thinking we'll have to shake it outside & then use the vacuum hose. It hides the dirt b/c it's so deep though :)"

"The color is different than what it appeared to be on my monitor. It looked white, beige, and dark brown or black. I got a dark ivory, tan, and medium brown.
It looks okay so won't be returning it but is not as nice as I was hoping. Just not enough contrast in the three colors and the brown is not a very pretty shade. Sort of "muddy river" instead of chocolate."

Warning about Cookies & Cream color

I ordered this rug in Cookies & Cream over the weekend based on the photo online. Got a catalog today -- the color and texture of this Cookies & Cream rug in the catalog looks COMPLETELY different than the photo on the website. In fact, I doubt it's even the same rug. Alas, it's too late to stop the shipment. Here's hoping the rug I get is the rug pictured on the website, otherwise it's going right back.
Cheryl, the customer service rep I just spoke with, was great!

"I purchased a 4X6 purple shag rug and it's been the worse experience! The rug sheds SO bad. I kept thinking that it would stop after a few weeks, but it has been about 6 months and it just doesn't stop. As soon as I clean it up, you can't tell I did anything. The purple fibers from the rug are everywhere. We are going to find something else to put in it's place. I am very sad as it looked great and the color was perfect, but so so so disappointed. Think before ordering the ultimate shag rug!!!"

"I purchased Seafoam Confetti in a 6x9. the rug arrived in great condition, nicely packaged. The quality is excellent. I wish there was a little more blue in the rug but not a dealbreaker. This is a lush, fabulous rug but NOT for kids, messy people or shedding pets. It requires a little special maintenance (use the wand of the vacuum, no brushes or rollers and then use a child's rake to fluff it up). It's pretty fab in my mid-century modern flat. This is my third rug purchase from HD and I have to say the quality is really good."

"I purchased a 9x12 black shag rug and it's been the worse experience! The rug sheds SO bad your house will never be the same again! It has ruined a vacuum cleaner, fibers from the rug is everywhere, anything you touch after you walk on it shocks you! Please think again before ordering the ultimate shag rug!!! I have replaced the rug after 1 month!"

"I just received my Ultimate Shag Rug and I am very pleased with the rug and color. It is truely a very beautiful light sky blue rug. It is plush and very soft to walk on. I was a little skeptical to order at first, without being able to feel the actual rug but I am so glad I did. The rug is better then expected. I am now going to order a second rug."

"I really liked the rug--feel, looks, color. But, I sent it back because I wanted a large one (8x10) and it was very difficult to vaccum. I tried with my Oreck and couldn't do it. Shag is over 2" long. It would be very nice as a small throw rug."

"I bought this rug thinking it was one solid color as per your picture in the catalog. I even printed the picture and enlarged it to hold against my furniture to make sure the color was right, thinking it was one solid color. Imagine my surprise when I found out that there were 2 colors, cream and beige. If it was so expensive to send it back, I would have. Quality is great, but the color description is very poor and misleading."

"not what I expected, but product will probably be fine for the light traffic area that I purchased it for. The backing isn't the stiff & sturdy base that is typical for a rug. It is more soft and plyable - the 8x10 rug was brought in the house from the driveway, up a flight of stairs by my 13 year old daughter (who weighs 85lbs.). The color is great, representative of the picture, and it is very soft and comfortable on the feet."

"I purchased this for a theater production. And it looks fantastic on set. However, I will note that I was a little surprised by the appearance. The rug is more tan than white as the picture suggests. The shag weaves are much thicker than I expected (1/4" thick). It does the trick for my mid-century set, but I feel like I would have been disappointed if I purchased this for my home. However, it is worth mentioning that many people have expressed interest in keeping it for their homes when the production closes."

Has anyone purchased the cookies and cream shag rug? Is it a black on white, dark brown on white or black on cream or both black/brown? I can't tell by the photo online. Thanks!
