Definitely worth buying Date: August 31, 2009
"Well, I have to say that this desk is definitely worth buying. I am impressed with how well it was packed and how well everything was labeled - the padding, the little bags of everything... Putting it together takes some doing - like creating someting with an "erector set" - so many pieces, it's unbelieveable, but worth it when you get the thing together - my advice is to unpack everything and lay it out so you can see what you have and allow PLENTY of time to put it together - think a couple of hours from start to finish. The value is just as good as anything you'd get at IKEA or a comperable store. It has a small footprint and takes up minimal space. My teenager loves it and so do I - it'll gives her a surface for her lap-top computer and a small place to store her little printer and paper, and is sturdy enough to last 4 years of high school. I didn't put the back on so the wires could go straight back to the outlet, but you could easily cut holes in the back to accommodate electrical plugs if you wanted it sealed."

Devil in the details Date: August 28, 2009
"The price of this item is its best feature. If you are willing to do some extra work it can turn into a reasonable middle of the road piece of furniture. The paint is not sealed (basic white - easy to mar - be very careful with assembly). The one I put together had a crack in one of the doors that a little putty and some sanding/paint fixed up....but should a new piece really have this sort of thing? The single greatest problem with this set is the cam locks. They are made of such shoddy material that practically every one broke when I tried to install them. Just go to your local hardware store and get a bag of the real ones (about 40 cents apiece) then you can assemble the kit. One other thing, be careful with the cheap plastic glue bottle. I took the lid off mine, went to squeeze a bit out for dowel placement and the inner funnel applicator popped right out....just tape it down before you start. All in all, if the price wasn't really low, the value would be poor enough to box it up and send it back."

Not a bad desk Date: August 26, 2009
"This is a desk for my daughter's room and it really looks nice in there. My husband put it together as I could tell by all the pieces that it would take me forever. Took him about one and a half hours. Right off the bat the knob to open desk fell off and stripped the screw so just glued it on. Other than that pretty happy with it."

Serves It's Purpose Date: August 19, 2009
"Serves it's purpose for storing a laptop and wireless printer below but it is soooo cheaply made!!! The main door doesn't sit flush due to the the poor contruction and the instructions were beyond funny in what they lacked. It was a pleasure having holes cut into the back to snake wires through..that is how cheaply made this piece is. For the price I got what I paid for."

Love this desk Date: August 3, 2009
"I purchased this item to go with my daughter's bedroom group. We needed something small but durable to do homework on and store our little extras. I was a little concerned based on the reviews, but purchased anyway. I am writing this review to dispute the others that said it was difficult to assemble and way too many parts. Our product contained all the parts plus extras JUST IN CASE and my husband and I assembled it according to the directions in about an hour. My daughter loves it and we look forward to many years of use. My only complaint is that some of the veneers were over particle board and not plywood. Would have paid more for SOLID wood construction, but the finished product looks great."

"This item has so many pieces one needs an engineering degree, abnormal amount of patience & assembly skill! To add insult to injury, the hinges didn't work."

I love this desk Date: March 24, 2009
"I was a little apprehensive about buying this after reading some reviews, but as I could not find anything remotely like it in unpainted furniture or home decor stores, I took a chance on it. And I'm glad I did, as I love how mine turned out. It took several hours to put together but it was worth it in the end. I do like how all the little pieces were individually packages and clearly marked. Some of the instructions were not totally clear, but by applying logic I was able to figure it out in the end."

"Love the way it looks Took my husband and I 2 1/2 hours to assemble but it was worth it. Front doors wouldn't close due to screws that did not countersink properly, but when we replaced the screws it worked perfectly."

Disappointed Date: September 29, 2008
"I have ordered quite a few items from Home Decorators with very good results, however, this secretary desk missed the mark. It was easy for me to assemble, but the louvered "pull-down" door had to be forced to close. The desk looks fairly attractive from a distance, but upon close inspection, it just looks cheap and the workmanship appears shoddy. The desk is definitely not worth the price that I paid."

Don't Waste Your Time Date: September 28, 2008
"I was very disappointed with this product. First of all, there is no mention on-line or in the catalog that assembly is required. Had it been mentioned, I never would have bought it. Once I spent a considerable amount of time putting it together, I found the door and hinge joints for the desk didn't fit properly. The back of the desk is cheap particle board paneling that splits. I would return it if I could. Don't waste your time or money on this project. The materials are shoddy. At this point I'm questioning the quality of other products sold by this company, and I'm not sure I will ever order anything from Home Decorators again."

"ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS WERE EXCELLENT, WITH ALL COMPONENT PARTS IN THEIR SEPARATE BAGS AND VERY WELL INDENTIFIED. IT TOOK A WHILE TO PUT TOGETHER, BUT WELL WORTH THE EFFORT - VERY STURDY AND FUNCTIONAL, AND I USE IT DAILY!"
