Definitely worth buying
Date: August 31, 2009
"Well, I have to say that this desk is definitely worth buying. I am impressed with how well it was packed and how well everything was labeled - the padding, the little bags of everything... Putting it together takes some doing - like creating someting with an "erector set" - so many pieces, it's unbelieveable, but worth it when you get the thing together - my advice is to unpack everything and lay it out so you can see what you have and allow PLENTY of time to put it together - think a couple of hours from start to finish. The value is just as good as anything you'd get at IKEA or a comperable store. It has a small footprint and takes up minimal space. My teenager loves it and so do I - it'll gives her a surface for her lap-top computer and a small place to store her little printer and paper, and is sturdy enough to last 4 years of high school. I didn't put the back on so the wires could go straight back to the outlet, but you could easily cut holes in the back to accommodate electrical plugs if you wanted it sealed."

Devil in the details

"The price of this item is its best feature. If you are willing to do some extra work it can turn into a reasonable middle of the road piece of furniture. The paint is not sealed (basic white - easy to mar - be very careful with assembly). The one I put together had a crack in one of the doors that a little putty and some sanding/paint fixed up....but should a new piece really have this sort of thing? The single greatest problem with this set is the cam locks. They are made of such shoddy material that practically every one broke when I tried to install them. Just go to your local hardware store and get a bag of the real ones (about 40 cents apiece) then you can assemble the kit. One other thing, be careful with the cheap plastic glue bottle. I took the lid off mine, went to squeeze a bit out for dowel placement and the inner funnel applicator popped right out....just tape it down before you start. All in all, if the price wasn't really low, the value would be poor enough to box it up and send it back."

Not a bad desk
Date: August 26, 2009
"This is a desk for my daughter's room and it really looks nice in there. My husband put it together as I could tell by all the pieces that it would take me forever. Took him about one and a half hours. Right off the bat the knob to open desk fell off and stripped the screw so just glued it on. Other than that pretty happy with it."
