"The wood and finish were very good quality (better than expected). The connecting hardware, however, was poor quality and broke easily (and odd-sized, so that I couldn't just go to the local hardware store to replace). I am fairly experienced at putting together furniture, but the directions were too vague and incomplete."

Bad quality and design

"When the box arrived, the parts were completely loose inside. During the assembly, I noticed serious damage on several visible surfaces. If not for the damage, the shelf looks well. The quality of parts is really bad: the drawer is made of some soft cardboard-like material which can't hold a screw; turning locks which are supposed to catch the heads of the screws do not match them well, and because of this the shelf is very difficult to assemble. The pre-drilled holes for the shelves do not match the size of real books, I had to drill additional holes. Avoid furniture made in Malaysia, from now on I would only buy furniture made in Brazil."

Great Look - Difficult Assembly

"The bookcase is really beautiful and fits perfectly with our decor. I love the drawer in the bottom for holding extras that don't stand up straight on the shelves. However, the instruction manual was slight and my husband, who builds homes for a living and has for 20 years, struggled to get the thing put together!! Well worth the price but be ready to spend some time on the assembly.."

"I like the bookshelf itself however, the instructions were among the worst I have seen for furniture. I have put together a lot of pieces in my day because I like shopping and buying online. I just can't rate the product highly because the pictures in the instructions were very un-specific and the written directions hard to follow."

"The pieces fit together very well and used sturdy hardware for assembly so it should last for quite a while. The bookshelf appears to be solid wood except for the side panels (hardwood mission style frame backed by veneered plywood) and the back which is thin veneer plywood. Also, the box for the drawers is 3/4" MDF. The finished piece works well, looks great, and is a huge value considering the very moderate price.
The finish on the bookshelf is very nice and smooth and the light cherry is an attractive color."
