"It is a little smaller than I expected, but, that is my fault for not paying enough attention to the size listed. I was so pleased with the high quality of the wood and it is beautiful. Looks and feels like a very expensive piece of furniture."

"This bookcase is affordable, looks very nice, and was only a few dollars more than the MDF bookcases they sell at WalMart that look ... well, like MDF. I am terrible at following assembly instructions, but I put this together all by myself within an hour. Looks very nice. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the instructions told me to "clean it" before assembling it, and it did seem like Pledge left a strange streak on it. It eventually seemed to go away but was very noticeable for a few days after assembly. I would be cautious about cleaning products. But great deal for the money, looks much nicer than the alternatives from the big box stores that also require assembly and this piece only cost a few dollars more. Definitely recommend."

"I was looking for a small piece of furniture to fill a space and give character to that area of the room. This bookcase was perfect. I wanted something where I could store a few books but not with the idea of filling it up. If you are looking for a bookcase to store a lot of books, you may want to get something bigger. This bookcase really only has a total of around 25" of vertical space, divided into 3 sections by the shelves, to hold books. The shelves are adjustable which is helpful. The color of the bookcase is a dark cherry color. I was concerned about it being too red, but because it is dark, it blends easier with other woods. It arrived in great condition, well packed, and was easy to put together. A screwdriver is all you need and 1- 1 1/2 hours to put it together. I would agree with other reviews, that the little brown felt stickers are useless. I left mine off, they don't stick anyway. I'd rather see the metal hardware that holds the bookcase together. They are on the inside and you don't really see them. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase."

"Very happy with this purchase. My husband said this was the easiest furniture to assemble, the pieces fit and there were extras. It is a heavy = sturdy piece of furniture. Great addition to our living room to coral toys'"

"a little over priced for the quality delivered. the stickers used to cover the bolt holes was horribly off color and barely stuck. it is not a bad piece of furniture. presents a moderate appearance good for a personal office space."

"This bookcase exceeded my expectations. I bought it for the entryway in my office, which was bare, and it looks like a designer's purchase. Very elegant and solid. Agree with other reviewers that the little plastic stickers to cover the silver screws were way off on color, but I took one of the reviewer's (more than one I think) suggestions and used a furniture marker - perfect! Love this piece! Note that the 3 shelf/small version doesn't fit all that many books (2 shelves of standard sized and one shelf for very short books, or, as I did, some books laid flat)."

"The bookcase came perfectly packed and in great shape. Well made, and tbe finish was just as described. This is the third or fourth purchase from Home Decorators and we have always been pleased. It was a little difficult to put together, but when we both worked on it, it became much easier."

"I like this bookcase, a great value, easy to put together. I did not want to spend a lot of money and I was cautious about buying this bookcase until I read the reviews so I am so glad I purchased it. My only comment that would be negative is the small circles that were sent to cover the screws on the inside of the bookcase were completely the wrong color, way too light. I decided not to use them. Also my husband didn't even know what it was in that plastic bag he thought it was sandpaper and couldn't figure out why he would be needing that so when I looked at it I saw the circles but as I say they need to improve the color. I am enjoying it and highly recommend it."

"I had my eye on the Salem collection for awhile and when I finally ordered the bookcases and the matching desk the Salem desk was discontinued; however I decided to keep the bookcases and order the Essex desk (desk due to ship in May) and I think it will be a close enough match to the Salem collection. I ordered one 3 shelf and 2 tall Salem bookcases and I just can't rave about them enough!! The quality, beauty and handsomeness far exceeded my expectations and I wold definately recommend this collection for the price especially. They are heavy, sturdy and gorgeous. The Home Decorator service on the phone plus the fact that they use UPS and its easily trackable makes the shipping so easy. I will definately be using Home Decorator Collection for future purchases. PS: I agree with another user that having a furniture pen to darken the interior metal screws versus using the covers that look like bandaids that don't match the cherry was just fine."

"This bookshelf is excellent quality and you can tell just by looking at it. It is a wonderful addition to any room and holds my books nicely. It is a solid wood piece and well worth the money. I looked at a lot of different bookshelves and was going to go with one a little cheaper, but then I remembered that you get what you pay for. That holds true with this bookshelf. You definately get what you pay for."
