"I looked around a lot for a shoe cabinet and I decided on this one because of its appearance. It was the best looking and I needed something to put by my entrance to make it neater.
The wood is solid and heavy which i like. As all other reviews, it doesn't take as many shoes as it says it does but I removed one horizontal and two vertical insert to fit bigger size shoes. I wear a size 8 and my husband wears a size 10 and we managed to put one shoe per slot instead of a pair. My thin sandals were an exception where we could fit a pair in each slot. In the end we managed to fit in 23 pairs of shoes which in my opinion is very comparable to other shoe cabinets out there. Most of them for the same range of price will fit around 20-22 pairs, but for me this one looks much better and is probably more sturdy.

Adequate
Date:April 11, 2012
"The nicest thing was that this was easy to find on the internet, and delivery was exceptionally fast. It came with extra pieces, which was very nice, and especially since one of the dowels was broken. Now the bad: Some of the dowels fit OK and some oversized and could not fit at all. One of the cam bolts broke as things were trying to go together. Because the dowels didn't fit, the sides and the top decorative braces did not go together. The phillips screws were not deep enough for most any of the phillips screwdrivers I own. Lastly, the grid inside (for the shoes) simply sits inside and is not secured at all."

"My wife & I were very impressed with the Craftman Shoe Storage cabinet. Assembling the unit was straight forward,. It took about 2 hours to build. However, I did pre-drill the hole markings to ensure that I didn't snap off a screw.
Being a collector of craftman and mission period furniture, the unit blended in perfectly with the house decor.
Some shoes with long heels had to be placed in single units.

"The cabinet barely fits one woman's shoe, so I don't see how it would ever fit a man's shoe. Good thing my husband does not have very many shoes, so he can put them elsewhere. The only way this would fit 24 pairs of shoes is if they were all sandals, and even those are a squeeze in one compartment. All other pairs are one shoe to a compartment. I do like the cabinet. If space will accommodate one of the larger cabinets, I would suggest that. The only reason I bought the smallest cabinet is because the space I have is only wide enough for this cabinet. Picture on website only showed pictures of the larger cabinets and the compartments look big enough."

Finally! My shoes are organized!
Date:March 30, 2012
"My large shoe collection has been difficult to manage. I've been using large plastic bins which start out with all the shoes in perfect pairs and immediately become disorganized when I'm searching for something. This cabinet (42 pair) is the perfect solution.
As previously noted, the cubbies are small for some of my heavier shoes, but I was able to use 2 slots for them. I'm so happy with the way this worked out. No more shoes in a jumble!"

minor adjustments needed

"My husband wears a size 13 shoe, so I had to take out about half of the shelves to get the shoes to fit. Only flip flops or kid's shoes will fit if you use every shelf that the kit comes with. It was easy to modify and looks nice. Not terribly hard to put together. It took about an hour or so."

Nice piece of furniture
Date:March 15, 2012
"The cabinet is very solid and was fairly easy to assemble. The Macintosh is slightly darker than I expected, but the store manager told me the medium finish is a little orangy so I stayed away from that, as the rest of my room leans more toward a cherry finish.
The only negative: I do not see how it is possible for this to hold 42 pairs of shoes except if they are children's size. We left off 2 partitions so that my husband's size 13 shoes could sit on an angle across 2 sections. My women's size 8 heels need to slide in 1 shoe per section on a slight angle. Only sandles and small flats can go in to a single cubby.
Overall it looks great and since I was just trying to solve the problem of about 9 pairs of shoes near the back door it worked out OK for us.

"Difficult to assemble. Looks just like the picture. I don't think I would purchase another RTA item like this. Mostly all wood except for shoe compartments. I do like the look however. Not bad quality either."

Nice piece!!!!
Date:March 2, 2012
"This unit went together pretty easily and turned out beautifully. The only problem I have is that my son wears a size 12 and some of his shoes do not fit. Maybe a little bigger cubbies would be nice. Other than that, I really like it. It looks very nice in my entryway and eliminates the mass of shoes that accumulates at the front door (white carpet so EVERYONE takes their shoes off). I have always been pleased with the items I have purchased from Home Decorators."

slots too small
Date:February 27, 2012
"This piece will not hold men's shoes unless some of the dividers are removed. I was very disappointed because it will hold only 22 pair. For women's shoes it would most dress shoes very well but running/tennis/work out shoes may not fit unless you remove dividers."

love this cabinet
Date:February 21, 2012
"I have the 42 model. Took my husband a long time to put it together. The directions were not very clear. Thankfully, we read other reviews that gave some helpful hints. The cabinet itself is lovely and holds a lot of my shoes. I was even able to get some mid height heels in (I'm a size 9). I did take out some of the dividers, but not all. I was very pleased with the cabinet itself."

This Product is a Joke
Date:January 26, 2012
"This is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. The workmanship of this product is an absolute joke. After we finally got most of it put together, 2 screw heads broke off in the wood so my husband had to put the hinges on backward. AND you can't fit actual shoes in the tiny little cubbies (which are loose in the chest; they're not attached to anything). This item should be advertised for kids' shoes because that's pretty much all that can fit in the compartments (besides flip-flops). I am very dissatisfied this product. I say: don't waste your money."

A Little Wimpy
Date:January 17, 2012
"Overall, we are happy with our purchase. Most of the hardware provided worked fine. However, the screws provided for use in the hinges that hold the doors on were too wimpy and the head's popped off. We created new holes and purchased new screws which are holding up okay, but, now the hinges don't line up correctly."

"Very nice cabinet. Works very well for standard size shoes. I would like to see the assy go a little smoother. When some of the cams were installed, one side of the cabinet did not fit closely. Maybe my expectations were too high. Otherwise, this is a very good purchase and I would recommend it"

24 cubbies does NOT mean 24 pairs!
Date:January 16, 2012
"I have this item in dark oak. While I like the unit, this item does NOT hold 24 PAIRS of shoes as listed. Unless you had child sized feet (and I have small feet for an adult) each cubbie holds ONE shoe and that can even be a tight fit. SO, while I use this unit daily... you are going to fit 12 PAIRS of shoes in it... one per cubby. There isn't a chance a pair of real adult sized shoes could fit in one of the 24 slots on it's own."
