"This item was exactly what I was needing. Assembly does take some time, but overall, not that bad and I did it myself (female, over 50). Fortunately, I was prepared, from earlier reviews, to have a drill handy...not all the little pin holes are present...but not really a major problem.
The color of the unit is close to cinnamon, perfect for my kitchen since I just installed new cinnamon colored cabinets.
I'm extremely satisfied with this product."

"I am quite satisfied with my purchase. It looks very good and is as sturdy as I anticipated. It definitely took 2 people to get it together, but the instructions were great and everything was well marked and laid out.
The shipping cost seemed high but it did arrive very quickly and in good shape."

"it took me a couple of hours to put it together,(and I am a woman) everything was clearly marked which made it easy. Holes were pre-drilled which also helped, the very top piece of the secretary has a split in it, which disappointed me, but I'm not sending it back because of it. It's what I wanted, and it's exactly what's pictured. I don't know how strong the drop down door is when opened though, not sure you'd be able to write on it, it's a bit wobbly when you rest your arms on it to write. Wasn't thrilled with the 50 dollars for processing and shipping either."

"assembly requires screws-into-holes, but the "holes" were either pinpoints or nonexistent. It took 2 of us and additional tools, plus guessing where to drill the holes to get the desk together. Once we accomplished that, the desk looks pretty good, but the fold-down desk is not really strong enough to actually write on with the weight of your arm."

"The box includes 81 screws of various types and sizes, 8 dowels, 40 nails and 26 assorted pieces of hardware. The "wood" and panels are number 25 pieces. Assembly time is stated as 1 hour but may take several hours. This is not a hardwood. Each piece is a glue up with occassional mismatches and botchy grain. It is a very soft pine type of wood. Maybe 1/2 inch thick. At times, it felt like balsa.
I'm embarrassed to say what the total cost including shipping and tax was, so I won't. Needless to say, shipping, taxes, and assemble do not make this a good value.
The finished product looks OK. I'm not sure how durable it will be."

"My husband put this together. He's quite experienced at putting these kinds of things together and had a hard time, it took him a few hours.
Overall, the product is good for the money you are paying. I get lots of positive comments on how good it looks. It's in a small spot in my kitchen to hold bills, etc and it does the job. One of the draws sticks a little bit, not sure if that is part of the construction or how it was put together."

"This secretary is exactly what I needed and the right size.
the quality of the wood is great, esp. the finsih.

"I don't think it was clear enough that this was a "put it together yourself" item. Considering the price it should have come assembled. Trying to assemble was very difficult and there are still some screws that won't go in properly. It makes the item appear to be aof a "cheaper" quality."

"I HAD GREAT EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS PIECE, BUT TO MY DISMAY, THE EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTING.
THE PIECE ARRIVED WITH NO HANDLES, CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY WANTED TO TAKE 10% OFF THE PIECE, BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE 8-10 WEEKS TO DELIVER NEW HANDLES. AS WE CONTINUED TO PUT THE PIECE TOGETHER, WE NOTICED THAT EVERYWHERE THERE WAS A SEAM---WAS SEPARATING!!!!!!!!! WE CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO GET A NEW TOP PIECE AND THAT AGENT SAID WE COULD GET THE NEW PIECE AND THE HANDLES IN 5-10 WORKING DAYS---BETTER. BUT EVERTIME I LOOK AT THE PIECE, I SEE ANOTHER SEAM SEPARATING----I SM REALLY DISAPPOINTTED. WON'T ORDER ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I bought the single desk in Walnut, and the appearance is very nice, with a deep rich finish. The secretary desk is very useful, takes up little space but holds a lot of mail, phone books, etc. The only complaint I have is that the lower cabinet did not come with a clasp or magnet to hold it shut, so it did not close properly. I bought a magnetic clasp from home depot and now it looks and works great."
