"I was disappointed in the color, not an antique cherry and is not made of wood. The middle drawer likes to stick, I think it got bent in the shipping. I do like the design of the filing cabinet, but wished it would have been made of real wood."

"Not being my first purchase from HD, I have a certain level of expectation in the products I have purchased. This is the first time I have been dissapointed in the detail work of the piece purchased. Although solidly built, speed of delivery and functionality are all intact, the attention to QA in the manufacture of this piece leaves a bit to be desired."

"Very easy assembly and nice product. I just started adding files and it seems to be very sturdy. It's a bit more reddish than the pictures let on (it is listed as cherry, though) but I am still happy with much it does NOT look like a traditional file cabinet."

"I recently purchased this file cabinet to go with the Winslow writing desk that I bought last year. I love the style of it and the quality is good for the money. I originally wanted a cart to put my printer on but it was no longer available. I'm very disappointed that Home Decorators doesn't carry the Winslow line any more as I would have purchased other items for my home office."

"From the description and the picture, I thought this would be the perfect addition to my study/office, that I built myself. Modern office that blends perfectly with rich wood and antique style furniture. HUGE DISSAPOINTEMENT!!! The file console does not look anything like the picture. It looks like prefabbed wood with a cheap veneer. There is not any depth of color in the "cherry" stain. It is a solid burnt orange with speckles of brown in it. Cheap!!! Too much of a hassle to return. I will put a gell stain on it and seal it, just to blend with real furniture."

What I needed in downsizing

"I read the reviews so had appropriate expectations. It is exactly as pictured and does the job it is intended to do. Hanging folders fit. It was a plus that when i called the chat person got the inside measurements of the drawers. For a non-furniture person it was a surprise in its solidity. A special plus is that my dog's bed fits under it. The help I needed was for unpacking and putting it in position for attaching the legs.
There was damage to one corner which I could not see through packing and how it was delivered. My helper said that he thought the damage happened in transport, not Home Decorators itself.
Now the rave: my helper strongly advised me to call Home Decorators. The customer service people were more than terrific both on the phone and in e-mail (On a Saturday. Note, it is central time in their office.). There was NO criticism of me; even without the picture (which I had) i was believed. Customer Service took care of the problem."

"It comes together so easily and its just such a beautiful piece of furniture. You can't tell its filing cabinets so it can sit in my small apartment livingroom and just look like a gorgeous console table! I've used it as a buffet right by my kitchen or behind my couch as a soft table. Its such a versitle piece of furniture. The only negative is that all of the pieces don't screw together perfectly so their are seams showing in a few places."

A "OK" Purchase

"What's Not So Good: Workmanship is lacking. Wood carving and (Cherry) finish are both very basic and display a lack craftmanship. Don't expect a piece of "fine" furniture.
What Is Good: (3) 14" deep file drawers yields lots of useful storage. Heavy and, seemingly, sturdy construction, needing only to (easily) attach 4 legs. Very tradional in style and should last. Most importantly (to me) does not look like a file cabinet! If style and size suite your needs and you're aware workmanship is "not great," then I would recommend. Customer service was excellant."

"Purchased this filing console to match other Heirloom products used in my grooming salon.
Finish matches previously purchased products perfectly! Easy assembly, just screw the legs on. This is a large piece, will need help lifting out of packaging and flipping back up once the legs have been attached.
Had slight problem with one of the file drawers having damage to a sidewall of the construction, but HDC shipped another drawer to me immediately and problem solved.
Can't beat the value and appearance of this sturdy piece!"

"I purchased the cream color 3 drawer file cabinet. It was very easy to assemble. There are some flaws in the finish but they are there to make the piece look older. It is not suppose to look new, so keep that in mind regardless of the color you select. It is designed to look like an aged antique.
In addition to the file cabinet, I purchased the desk, chair with leather seat an a matching cabinet found in the bath section. Wish I had room for the pedestal. I also had glass cut for the tops of the file cabinet and desk. Now I can use them without worry about scratching.
Would recommend the whole set to anyone."

"I was very disappointed with this purchase. It appears to be wood stained a dark walnut color. It is actually wood poorly constructed and thickly painted a strange orange color. I felt duped. I ordered another piece that was also supposed to be a stained wood bookcase. It is yet a different color of orange paint."

"Overall the file console is very nice in appearance and does not look like a filing cabinet! It blends nicely with other furniture in our family room near the computer. It is fully assembled except for the legs. One leg was very ill fitting and unfortunately is located on the front of the console so it is noticeable. Also, a finish defect on top of the console but not worth the hassle of repacking in the huge box for a return. Overall a good look and value but it is a mass manufactured imported product."

"I'm very happy with this purchase! After a long search for a small, cherry console to match it with my dining table, I came across with Home Decorators' web site and found what I was looking for. I was hesitating to order it without actually seeing if the color would match my dining table but I took the risk... The delivery was right on time and in great condition. When I opened it, I was so so happy to see how well it matched my dining table (exact color and even similar design) and how beautifully finished it was. It serves the purpose for which I bought it and I'm very satisfied with the purchase and the service. It was very easy to assemble but it took 2 people to turn it over as it is a little heavy."

"Assembly was easy. BEWARE - color is not cherry however. It is mostly a brownish oak finish - not dark enough to be cherry, but it fits my decor. The file cabinet is extremely elegant! Gorgeous. I purchased this for a church office and it just makes the office look fabulous. Only gave it four star, because the color is not really cherry. Love this piece though. The carvings are beautiful as well. Cannot find this piece for this great price anywhere!!!!"
