"such poor quality and it was difficult to build. once I finished building and realized it was such poor quality I was so upset but already thow out the boxes it was mailed in and didn't want to take more time to take it all apart so I left it in my kitchen and am so unhappy with it. I am looking for a replacement and can't wait to throw this cheap junk out. not work all the $ that was spent."

Great Storage, Ridiculous Wait Time

used as media storage
"I have several other Amanda pieces and have been quite pleased with them. This line offers attractive and sturdy items... if you understand that they definitely are NOT fine furniture, you will not be disappointed in quality.
What you may be very disappointed with, however, is the unbelievably long wait time you may experience if you order a piece that is not in stock. This piece in particular seems to be out of stock quite often. I waited 12 weeks for delivery and had the estimated delivery time moved back twice... others have complained of the same problem. I had already ordered a matching piece, so could not cancel.
The storage is just what we wanted for our media collection. We'll add shelves for the DVDs soon and it's more than sturdy enough for the LaserDiscs. No other pieces we found could match this storage capacity.
You will need two people to assemble this, at least one with some height and muscle... it's a major nightmare to move into place once it's assembled if the space is tight. Also, plan on shimming the feet a bit to help the doors hang correctly.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend it more highly because 1) too expensive for the level of furniture that it is and 2) there seems to be a long term problem with keeping these pieces in stock and obtaining them in a timely manner from the manufacturer."

Good Looking Piece

"The Amanda Corner Armoire is a good looking piece of furniture. It took about 2 hours to put together with a little bit of help. The glass doors are very heavy so we put the metal base on and stood up the piece before attaching the doors. Everything lined up correctly but be careful screwing in the back sides so that the screws don't mess up the laminate. I am used to a large desk with drawers to hold supplies and files. I would have preferred a drawer to hold some of my materials. Wires are well hidden versus but it took a long time to get all the wires where they needed to be. We are happy with the appearance and are purchasing the credenza for storage."

Disappointing Purchase
Date: May 11, 2009
"To start, I ordered this product in August, 2008 and it was JUST delivered in April 2009!! Next, the base on which this armoire stands is different from the rest of the Amanda collection. Most other pieces have a single base (i.e., the silver accent part), with the feet welded to it; this piece of furniture has 6 separate feet that had to be screwed onto the base. The result: a point of weakness in the base resulting in the feet bending inward and the furniture buckling when you attempt to move it. Really a piece this size should be on casters. Also, some of the pre-fab holes for the hinges were missing on one door; they had to be drilled in using the other door as a guide and there is no magnet on the doors to keep them closed, so they swing open. Finally, there should be a way to purchase spare screws, as 2 of the canti-lever screws broke when they were twisted (even using the tool; not a drill, so no excessive pressure was exerted) and you can't purchase replacement screws that are the same size in a store -- retail ones are too large for this furniture. After a 9-month wait (sort of like waiting for a baby!) you make it work, but I would not buy again."
