"I bought the beige runners and 5.3" x 8" rug in November 2010. They look absolutely amazing in the master bedroom with chocolate walls. They do shed so be sure to vacuum them often. I've come to find that they spot clean very well. I am VERY happy with my purchase."

"I looked at this Optics run in the catelog for probably a year. I wondered if the color would be exactly what I was seeing, or just slightly different. I purchased two of the beige rugs for my kitchen. I have cream colored cabinets, off-white tile with a milk chocolate grout, and new granite countertops with a cream color and black, brown, silver natural splahes and the blending is absolutely even more than I had dreamed it would be! Wonderful!
I put the red in the bedroom...it is a wonderful touch ...... has varying shades of dark red, which was perfect with my cherry red throw pillows on the bed. Wish I had ordered it sooner, and didn't take so long to decide!!"

"I purchased the beige color and I am not disappointed. The quality is wonderful, hardly any shedding and the thickness is great! I was very impressed with the delivery people. The rug arrived faster than orginally noted and the "in home delivery" was great. I had all the funiture moved and marked the hardwood floor with tape so when they arrived I asked if they would lay the rug in the marked area so I could unpack it and roll it out. Within a few minutes I vaccumed and replaced the sofa etc and was able to admire my purchase. I've purchased many area rugs in my lifetime and this one is one of the best and the price was terrific."

"I am not one to write reviews let alone take pictures, but felt I needed to on this one. First, I looked at this rug for 9 months before taking the plunge because of the price; I was uncomfortable buying something without touching/seeing it. Second, I read every review probably 2-3 times and almost didn't buy because of the shedding problem that folks were talking about. Third, I was terrified the color was going to be off.
So here we are, the walls are painted, the furniture in in, and the rug arrives. We roll it out and couldn't have been happier. It is simply stunning. It is a conversation piece, everyone who sees it asks about our new rug. We were going for a new modern feel, and this pulled it all together. The color was "perfect" --- I sincerely couldn't have asked for more (in fact better than I imagined). We experienced an odor for 2-3 days, but it quickly passed. The best part is, we have had ZERO shedding. I am not sure why, but feel pretty lucky. I remember cracking up when I read the review from the person who said their home looked like an alpaca lived in it, and was very concerned.
The pictures below speak for themselves. I want to thank everyone who took pictures and posted them because it helped me make my buying decision.

"We've had this rug in our living room for over two years. We loved it at first. It's unique and eye-catching. We vacuum cleaned it (and still do) twice a week to stop the sheding in 3-6 months like they said in the product details...IT STILL SHEDS like crazy!!! Our hardwood floors, our leather couches are covered with the fibers as if we have a dog or two.... ((( If we want to sit on the rug or even near it, the fibers stay on the socks and clothes and even hair! We are so disappointed, it's a waste of money considering all the efforts wee put into cleaning it and getting rid of all the wool fibers out of our floors and furniture."

"I like the rug but the one I received was actually not the pattern it showed on the internet. It did have the same name "Optics" and it was nice enough so I just kept it.
The overall quality of the rug is wonderful! Nice and thick and the 3D effect of the design is the perfect touch."

"The rug is gorgeous. I got the beige and it is more beige/light brown but it is really beautiful. It gets 4 stars because it sheds a lot, but hopefully that will go away after vacuuming a fewe times."

The Red Menace -- Beautiful but sheds horribly

"I have a love/hate relationship with this rug. It is stunningly beautiful and I LOVE how it looks. We ordered it in the red and it looks fabulous in the room. I've received a lot of compliments on it and it is very plush. HOWEVER, I call it the Red Menace. It sheds horribly. We've had it over a year now and it is still shedding. I have red fuzz all throughout my house now because of this rug. In order for it to stay halfway decent looking I have to vacuum it everyday ... and that just won't work in my world. Also, due to the red color it shows every piece of lint like a beacon. We typically wear our socks around our house and so there are constantly white lint spots on this carpet that just scream "look at me" right next to the red fuzz balls from the carpet shedding that say "don't forget to look at me too". I didn't think about that when picking the color unfortunately. Obviously that isn't the rugs fault. I just wanted to mention it so other people take it into consideration. I will say this is the first rug I've ever purchased because we've always had wall to wall carpet everywhere so maybe this much shedding is normal but somehow I doubt it. My life it too busy to be having to vacuum not just this rug but my whole house due to the red fuzz getting everywhere. It is also starting to look more worn than it should due to too much vacuuming (I think). So, now we just put up with the fuzz and vacuum as we normally would. I've finally had enough and am looking to get rid of it which really bugs me due to the high cost. I haven't found anything as beautiful as this rug but I have to go with function over beauty in this case because the red fuzz everywhere and constant need to vacuum is driving me crazy. I just can't in good conscience give it a high rating even though it is beautiful. So, just beware, beauty comes at a price with this rug."

"We got the Tan & White optic rug, and I can't give it enough praise. It is so beautiful. The texture of the swirls almost make it "3D-ish"...it really stands out. We've gotten so many complements on it. The quality is also excellent. I've bought other rugs from homedecorators.com and never been disappointed, and this one is no exception...the most beautiful one I've bought yet."
