"I have purchased other items from HDC and found them to be well designed knock-down furniture. This one was a knuckle buster -- and yes, I triple checked to verify that I placed the components in accordance with the schematics. Shelving screw holes should be angled to accommodate a regular screw driver utilized with a full grip. The middle and bottom shelves do not have adequate support and are already bowing."

"Of the 2 bookcases purchases, one has a broken shelf, the other one has the same shelf dented and a sideboard with a very visible repair. The backs are very flimsy cardboard and the website does not advertise that the bookcase MUST be attached to the wall, otherwise it will fall!!"

"I was skeptical to buy it, I was worried about poor craftsmanship and being flimsy particle board. I was proven so wrong! I have been showing my bookcase to everyone! It is as beautiful as it is sturdy. I love it and will be purchasing more!"

"I bought 2 bookshelves to go on both sides of my fireplace in our family room. For the price you can't beat them and they were simple to assemble, and I am not handy by any means. I would say 15-20 minutes tops to put together."

"I bought two of these units, they went together OK but with some difficulty. The strange thing is they came with some small areas of bright red coloration, I called the mfr and they said that is normal, that it is what they call antiquing! Quite bizarre and bizarre looking. Anyway I liked the shelves overall, so scrubbed out the red as much as possible, then bought gloss black auto paint to touch up the areas and it seems OK."

"good quality bookcase, but putting it together was horrible!!! I would rather pay extra and not have to put that thing together. It takes two people and screws don't all match up with the provided holes. never again"

"Bookshelf is beautiful, sturdy and looks expensive. However, the corner of the shelf buckled a little during assembly, but it is covered and not visible. fyi...Shelves are not adjustable, but they do fit vinyl albums perfectly!"
