"We've had this desk for about five months now and are very happy with it. We have it in black, which looks very nice with the silver knobs. The size is substantial. There were some issues with stripped screws that were sent for the knobs, but we had a few spares around that worked fine. The part where the CPU goes is huge. Actually way too big for our mini-tower. It would be nice if there were a shelf in there because right now that's mostly wasted space. We also have our desk against the wall, and occassionally it gets too hot where the computer is and the modem will reboot. It needs some vent holes for circulation. We plan to drill some vent holes ourselves, so for now, we just leave the CPU door slightly open. No one else seemed to have this problem, so I think that is particular to our situation and climate (southest)."

"Desk went together with ease but make sure to have 2 people to do it. Very sturdy & nice appearance! Great computer desk. The only issue was we found some scratches in the top and dirt on different parts as it was almost done being put together. Inspect all parts carefully before starting assembly so if you need anything exchanged, it can be done much easier."

"Very easy for my husband to assemble but he is excellent at this so not everyone may agree! Nice quality, nice looking and better than pictured. Faux drawer needs an inner shelf - seems like wasted space but otherwise we are very satisfied and would highly recommend."

Good Value but Minor Quirks

"The Good: Good Desk, looks beautiful, Very good price, sturdy and easy to assemble.. just took time (my 5 year old helped)
The Quirky: Too little ventilation in the CPU cabinet, OK if you turn of your computer or for a laptop. Keyboard tray not wide enough for a keyboard and mousepad. I had to convert one of the drawers to a pull out mouse pad by spanning the drawer with a expandable tray. Drawers don't glide nicely (but do close),
Note: When Assembling put the bolts in first, assemble and then slide the cams into the holes... makes it much easier"

"This desk is an amazing value. My daughter thought I had bought it at Pottery Barn (for about 5x the price). The only problem I'm having is the keyboard tray doesn't have room for my mouse. We're going to have to modify something. Other than that, I highly recommend this item."

"Once we had the desk put together, when we inserted the center keyboard drawer we missed the glides on one side. It was impossible to take the drawer back out as it was missing the part to release the drawer for removal. We had to unscrew and remove the glide that had been missed and put it back on with less than all screws. The drawer now works but I will never be able to remove this drawer as it is defective. Also the top had a gouge in it."

"I ordered this desk for my husband. He likes to spread out when he works. Now he has plenty of room for the computer a lamp, phone, and all his papers. Assembly was not difficult, but read all the directions before starting and be prepared to spend four hours. I broke it into three days and did not become frustrated. The holes for the file cabinet drawer did not line up, but we were able to make things right and the drawer is just what we need. Overall we are both pleased with this purchase."

"This desk looks very nice. My husband assembled it...somewhat time-consuming, but not difficult. The desk-top arrived damaged on two corners, but a quick email to Home Decorators was all it took to get a replacement piece within a week, no questions asked. They didn't even want the damaged piece back. The keyboard drawer seems a little low...the top of my legs hit it when seated at a normal height in my chair. The problem can usually be alleviated by opening the drawer flat. Offers a good amount of storage...I just wish that the "door" side of the desk had a shelf inside, as we don't need to house a computer tower. A shelf would give us more options. Overall a great looking desk for a great price!"

"The desk is shown in the catalog to be placed in the middle of the office. This is not possible and the catalog picture does not show the desk accurately. It needs to be placed against the wall due to the front of the desk to be cardboard and have a hole in one of the cardboards for computer wires. The picture does not represent the actual desk that you get."

"We got this desk and the 2-drawer file cabinet as our Christmas gift to each other. They stand full length along a wall in our den. Very heavy duty - sturdy, solid, the silver knobs are a nice accent. Because it is so heavy though, I would not recommend moving it much after assembly. You need at least two people so it doesn't creak or feel like you're pulling anything apart. It looks solid and classy against our wall which is covered in black picture frames, so the look is very classic. The drawers and file cabinets slide/glide very smoothly and feel sturdy as well. In one drawer, the bottom cardboard is barely missing the size, so I don't want to put anything heavy in there. We love finally having a cabinet to put the cpu unit, router, satellite reciever, battery backup in - it's all behind the cabinet door and gives a sleek clean look. We did cut the back out right there to provide more ventilation however. The price was a super great deal - it was all very worth it. The black on the tilt-out keyboard tray has gotten tiny, tiny knicks that we've covered with a perm. marker."
