"I got this to go at the foot of our bed. It looks okay there but I guess I should have gotten the longer one, this one looks a little stumpy but okay.
My husband who is an automechanic and used to putting things together was cursing while doing this one. I made him read and follow instructions (which I usually don't) but the first line of the pamphlet was to read and follow the instructions, it will be easier to put together. Well, not only were the instructions a bit confusing they were wrong and luckily the glue hadn't set and we were able to take the little wooden dowel thing out of the whole. (I had to bake him a cake with a lot of frosting after)
The unit does look good though."

Craftsman Gossip Bench

"I was somewhat disappointed in the overall looks of the bench. I wish the color in the catalog had been more true-to-life. The color was not quite what was depicted in the pictures. It said it was "dark oak" however, instead of the deep brown shade shown in the picture (which would have matched my bedroom suite exactly!), the piece has a lot of red tones in it and does not match my bedroom suite as well I had thought it would. Also, there were two small brace pieces that my husband had to re-attach because they had been put on incorrectly and then came off during shipping. One piece was completely split and we had to glue and clamp it before we could re-attach it. If I had ordered this piece and had to put it together without the help of another person, it would be difficult to do so. The bench is now put together and with the exception of the difference in color, it matches my bedroom suite - right down to the pulls on the drawers! I plan to attempt to put a stain on it this Spring and see if I can get the color to match a bit better."

"This bench looks really great! That said, it was NOT easy to put together......it is cam and post. Says to put posts "flush" (try marking them) If you don't put post in deep enough it pulls out. If you put them too deep the cam won't catch and it warps. You can try to squeeze it back in shape but four of ours broke. We had all ours posts in and then had to reset them all. Two went through the wood on outside. Drawers were a piece of cake. They gave us 3 choices return, rebate, or $$ off next order. No hassle"
