"This is a very nice bookcase in the cherry finish. It is constructed on particle board, so it is heavier than one might expect. It looks like a solid wood bookcase even though it is not solid wood. It is easy to assemble and is a good value for the cost."

"Assembly complicated by screw inset holes on faux legs being too short by about 1/4 inch. Needed to re drill inset holes to provide sufficient grasp into the base wood. Take care not to drill too deeply. Also added glue to pegs. Now seems fine

"After reading the great reviews of this bookcase I could hardly wait for mine to arrive.
When it finally did, I discovered that I received two boxes of the same pieces. Thus, I was missing half of the items and hardware needed for assembly. After three phone calls to customer service I now have THREE 62 lb. boxes of the same pieces (see photo), none of which can be combined to make the finished product.
Now I'm required to wait for shipping labels to arrive in the mail so that I may wash my hands of the whole episode.
Thanks, Home Decorators. You've lost a customer for life."

"I was surprised when I read some of the reviews. I put this bookcase together myself in about an hour. I also got the model with doors; that took a bit longer. Both went together easily. The one without doors is in my living room and has been for almost 2 years. The shelves aren't sagging (and I have a LOT of books), it looks great and I'm very happy. The one with doors I use as a linen closet in my upstairs hall. I can fit towels, sheets, extra bathroom supplies, etc. in it. It's perfect for what I need. I would love another to use as a pantry, but I can't find one on-line anywhere!"

"This bookshelf came with the three most dreaded words in the English language - some assembly required. But it wasn't that hard to assemble for us, two back injury older adults. We balanced the heavy sides, worked together, and put it together in less than 2 hours, which is pretty amazing. The assembled shelf looks like a fine piece of furniture. The finish color is reddish, the parts cleverly assemble to look like a very expensive footed shelf, just lovely. Very solid, very heavy, much nicer than most of the put together yourself bookshelves."

"I have thought about buying this cabinet for a long time. I am so very glad I did, It is a truly beautiful piece of furniture. I was a little challenged in it's assembly. Generally it is no big deal, but...... When I had read the reviews on other assembly experiences I thought, 'How bad can it be?' Well, it was frustrating at times. The directions could be clearer. That said, I would not hesitate recommending this to anyone. It is solid, well built, and beautiful."

"I do like the bookcase, but it was difficult to assemble. I liked that the parts were clearly labled. I did not like the directions - which to me were incomprehensible pictures. And little mistakes, like missing the exact spot for a screw by a tiny amount, caused paint to chip off.
I think in the future I will buy only the simplest "need-to assemble" products and purchase other furniture in local stores."

"Ordered this bookcase for my family room. Arrived in just a few days and it was easy to assembly. It looks like an expensive piece of furniture. Beautiful color wood and VERY solid. One of the shelves came with a crack. I called Home Decorators and within three days a new shelf arrived. Would order from them again and again."

"The set up was pretty easy for one person to do. The cherry wood is solid and beautiful throughout, and the nice molded work is a beautiful touch that goes way beyond other DIY furniture. We really like the depth of the shelving. And this extra width was a big win for us. We liked this so much that we ordered another one. I rated the value a little less because it still felt like a lot of money. The second time we caught a sale with free shipping - and that felt like a GREAT value then."

"Purchased two bookcases so far, and plan to get another. Arrived quickly, and in excellent condition. Assembly directions were very clear; I put the whole thing together myself, although it would have helped to have a second person. The only problem I ran into was attaching the back panel. On one bookcase, three of the screws were too close to the edge and broke through the finished veneer on the inside. On the other, I pushed the sides in a bit while attaching the back panel, and ended up with a couple shelves that had to be shaved a little so they would fit over the shelf supports. The assembled bookcases look very elegant and sturdy. One other note – the measured size includes the decorative crown molding, so the actual useable width of each shelf is about 31 inches."

"Prompt delivery. Well packaged and protected. Took 1 person about 4 hours including unpacking all items, cleaning them and reviewing instructions. ONLY COMPLAINT: be careful when installing legs, instructions are a bit confusing. Really solid unit. I love the look of the bookcase and having my favorite books available. Easy to adjust shelves. Lots of screws on the back!"

"It is a beautiful piece of furniture, am very happy with it. Only problem was when putting together, when attaching back panel, last thing to do, and this is where the difficulty arose. PLEASE WARN FUTURE PURCHASERS OF THIS PRODUCT, when screwing in the little screws to secure the back, make sure you are plenty far enough away from the edge or you will go right through to the finished side, splintering off the laminated finish. This happened to me 3 times, and each time it did appear that I was far enough in from the edge. I therefore, didn't put in all the screws for fear of really ruining the bookcase. Other than this it was not a problem putting it together. Just discouraging when all done and the last thing gave a problem, that could have ruined the whole thing."

"Product arrived in a timely manner with no damage. Assembly time and effort was about what was expected. Product looks great. Adjustable shelves are a nice feature. Product is very white so don't expect any shade of cream. I've actually ordered a second one as it meets our needs quite well."

"I bought these bookcases in several sizes which wrap around my den to accomodate 4000 books in my home. I get more compliments on these cases in the dark wood color than anytime. These bookcases are well worth the money and are strudy when assembled correctly. Very rich look. I highly recommend these! One caution, don't loose the metal insertion pegs which support the book shevles as they are impossible to replace it seems if one comes up missing."

"I am satisfied with this bookcase. It looks very classic and upscale. I was assembling it on my own and could have used an extra pair of hands for help. It took me about 2 hours to do it alone; parts of this bookcase are pretty heavy when put together and it is a solid piece of furniture. The only problem I had was with the slots of bottom and one side panel: it was pretty hard for some reason to put them together. Seems like one of the slots has been shifted. But with some effort and force I was able to finish the assembly. I definitely would recommend this bookshelf."
