"The rug pad serves three functions: It keeps the rug from slipping, adds softness to the step and protects the wood floor. I went for the longer lasting pad as the price was not too far above the lesser pads but wanted something to last awhile, and it looks like it will. It isn't so thick as to cause a big height change when going from the floor to the rug."

"Bought carpet pad for new den carpet. It really gives good support to the carpet and there was no noticable chemical off gasing odor to deal with. I anticipate many years of use."
