"You usually can tell the quality of a product by the weight of the wood. If I could have caught the delivery men who left the two extremely heavy packages outside my lower level garage, I would have had them carry them up to my front door. It took me the better part of the morning (just before it they would have rained on) to get them upstairs. I actually had to open the package to take out a piece at a time until it got light enough to carry. It would serve you well to have more than one person available to carry them.
That aside, I slowly put together the unit. I said slowly because some of the directions are not totally coherent. Someone translates these instructions...but not very well. I ended up with a couple of mistakes that, if I wanted to take the time, I probably could correct. I ended up with the bottom stand backwards with the hardware facing out...should have been reversed...but it would stake a lot of work to correct it and I decided that it still looked ok.
The other important thing to note as has been done before, is that it absolutely will not free stand on it's own. You need to attach it to the wall...don't think you can get away without it.
Also worth noting is that the instructions advise that you have two people assemble it. Realistically, I don't know how you could do it by yourself without major difficulties. It's just too heavy to hold, adjust and screw by yourself.
As I said, the unit is quality, looks good and completely serves the purpose. Just be aware of some of the pitfalls.

"This is the fourth item of this line I have assembled and found it much easier to understand the directions than the entertainment center I put together. I love this item. I wanted a tall cabinet that had glass doors and this fit the bill. Although sold as a media cabinet I am going to use it for storage and for displaying some of my needlefelted creations. Also planning on adding some lights on the shelves on the cabinets with the glass doors.
It was easy to assemble but wish I had known that I had to attach the top of it to the wall. It is where it is now and I will not be able to move it now that it is secured to the wall. I needed to purchase longer screws and wall plug because my house is 1912 vintage and I have baseboards which makes a tight fit to the wall impossible. I think I would have thought twice about purchasing if I had known that it needed attachment to the wall.
It is a beautiful piece and I love the Arts and Crafts style which goes great with my vintage home and prairie style stained glass lighting. A good value and looks great with the other three pieces in the same room.

VERY Pleased

"This was a fun project. Find a nice, hard surface on which to work...as this is front-heavy and it will want to fall forward when assembling on cushioned carpet. I bought two, and the workmanship is top notch, generally, but one pull is a little higher than the rest. Will fix later. But overall, VERY pleased with my purchase!"

"We searched and searched for this height.
the media center is very attractive. The wood is beautiful. Everyone should be sure to know it attaches to the wall. That was okay because it allows us to display valuable pottery on top.
