"I bought this item because I like the way it looked, and I didn't want a metal "office-looking" file cabinet. But it proved to be very hard to assemble, although the final result is OK. The dowels were too small for the holes (or the holes were too big). This allowed for not-so-perfect alignment of the pieces. The cam-locks all broke (I thought that they were just "too-soft" pot metal). It wasn't until I carefully examined the mechanics of the cam locking mechanism that I realized that the posts were too short. When I backed the posts out a few turns (making them NOT FLUSH, as the instructions say), they worked better, but still not great, allowing for some play. I dis-assembled the unit and re-assembled it using glue on all the joints. The item is now in use, and should be OK, but it was a hard fight."

"I like my new file cabinet. My one complaint is that the metal that the cams were made out of was way too soft. They are easily broken, and when screwing them in, the indentations were easily damaged, making it hard to ensure a tight fit, which in turn means a more unstable unit when it is fully constructed."

"This is a nice cabinet for the price paid. The wood is not real oak, as the desciption indicates - but it is nice wood. Also, it is NOT a file cart, as the description states. There were no wheels incuded. I had to go out and purchase wheels. My husband put the cabinet together, which took about two hours. The locking mechanisims to hold the cabinet together were made of very cheap pot-metal. Three of them broke, when trying to tighten them (and we did NOT over-tighten them). Instead of using these devices, we drilled holes, and screwed on the back of the cabinet. The drawers glide smoothly.
All in all, I am satisfied with this purchase. The cabinet should last a long time."

"After purchasing a different piece in the Stanton line that was preassembled, attractive and nicely finished, we were very disappointed with this piece of furniture. Finishing of the piece was poorly done. Craftsmanship left much to be desired. Assembly was more challenging than expected. Instructions basic and diagrams sometimes vague. Alignment of predrilled holes not always accurate. The drawers do not fit well when closed. Overall not a good experience."
