"First of all this rug is not white, it's cream.
That said, the texture was absolutely disgusting - like a grizzly bear. I have a flokati pillow that looks and feels nothing like this rug. I read another review where someone said it was great after combing it with a wire brush - I really don't want to add "groom the rug" to my list of house work. Sending back asap."

"After reading some of the other reviews, we were apprehensive about buying this rug. We got the 7x10 Blue. Upon receiving thie rug we checked it out, and it was really matted, and seemed quite a bit darker than the photo. No odor on ours though.
We put in our new home with all our new furniture, and was a little let down. But then I decided to comb it out...I LOVE THIS RUG!!! After combing it out, it looked every bit like the photo and better! The blue lightened up, and the THICK wool pile stood up proud. For the new living room we had in our minds...it couldn't have been anything else! I am struck by the beauty of this rug every time I come home.
I highly recommend these rugs. You will absolutely need a mat for it if you put it on a hardwood floor, and a wide tooth dog comb. Read the manufacturer's care and maintenance section on their website fo better detail."

"I have wanted a flokati for years, but just couldn't find the right source. I finally decided to take a chance on Home Decorators because there were so many good reviews - and it was the right thing to do! My new flokati is everything I hoped it would be - beautiful crisp white (natural white, that is), soft, fluffy (I got the premium). If you have been looking for a flokati, this is the one to buy. Oh, and I agree with the others, a rug pad is a must."

"After considerable debating over which rug to get, the standard or the premium, I finally bit the bullet and went for the big bucks for the premium. Glad I did b/c less of a rug would not have been good enough. You get what you pay for. And as far as Flokatis go, there are MANY different grades so it was hard to guess which grade HDC's premium actually is. For the price, compared to others of the same elk, this is a great rug! The things others complained about (the smell, the irregular shape, the matting) are normal for a Flokati and with a little effort it could be what you want...air it out, brush it up, place it down...ON A RUG PAD, of course! The open weave backing, also common for this rug, will slip and slide on a hard floor. But this is not a con, it's what you should expect. You don't find many good rugs with a rubber backing, afterall. LOVE IT!!!!"

"For the money this is the best value for a 100" Genuine wool rug. It is so natural and soft. We put it in front of our fireplace and no one wants to sit on the furniture anymore. You will be completely happy with the rug and the color we choose was much better in person than you can see on the webpage."

"I had high hopes of the premium Flokati after admiring a similar rug at a friend's house. I went for the premium hoping for a luxurious soft feel and look. The rug was such a disappointment! The rug and the pad both had strong "plastic" odors that did not go away after a week. The fur was matted and tangled. I tried to comb it out but no luck. The folds in the rug from shipping in a cramped box did not relax after a week. The fur was so thin that while standing on it you could look down and see the cheap burlap-look backing. You could even see through the rug to the texture of the rug pad! I can't imagine the quality of the non-premium rug. HDC allowed the return but of course I paid shipping both ways. I have bought several items from HDC over the last 4 years but am increasingly unhappy about quality. This is my last purchase from this company."

"I was expecting a premium product and it was so far from it. The quality was horrible, not even close to being white and did not feel soft. I equated it to a matted hairy dog in need a long overdue bath!
It is however, the first thing after MANY purchases from HD that I have had a issue with to date.

"the rug is very nice. it's made well but not at all what i was expecting. maybe i just hadn't done my research but i thought i was getting an incredibly soft and plush rug. this is neither. It's moderately soft but tangled looking. Also incredibly slippery on wood floors. MUST have rug pad!!"

"this is the highest quality flokati I've come across! Best used as an accent as without a pad it will slip! Also, it may seem matted when it arrives, a dog brush used lightly will ease the fur into place! Cleans up VERY well, sheds very lightly as compared to the "cheaper styles" i have seen! A must have!!"

"Wish I could have received a swatch of the color first, but it is not offered. I read the prior reviews and felt confident that the Premium light pink rug would come as shown on both the website and in the catalog. It was almost purple, and MUCH darker than the photos show. It was a very thick rug which was nice and what I was expecting for the premium rug. But as another reviewer noted, it was not as soft as other wool rugs and it was a little misshapen as well. And it seems like it needs some careful brushing as it is fairly matted."

"I read the desciption of the premium flokati wool rug very closely before making my decision to purchase. I was not disappointed. The rug was the perfect size for my room and very soft. "I didn't know what to expect with the premium Flokati rugs because of some of the reviews, but I love the rugs (I ordered 2). They are thick, plush, so soft on the feet, and true to color. The sizes of the rugs are not exact because they are hand-made, but unless they are going to be right next to each other, it's no problem."
