"The backing on my previous outdoor rug disintegrated in a few years from continuous exposure to damp. Having bought a new rug, I wanted to avoid that waste. Since I haven't had this product long it may pleasantly surprise me but I think it was surprisingly expensive. Of course the appearance is unimportant for a pad, and it was very easy to cut to the dimensions I needed. It does not "pad" the carpet to the foot; its purpose is to keep the backing aired enough to prevent mold and mildew, and it is slip-proof. The parts I cut off I used under some small mats in front of my doors where the slip-proof is an important point, and it works well."

Very Helpful Under Outdoor Rugs

"This is a very useful product--especially if your outdoor rugs get wet. The rug pad seems to speed up the drying process. Makes the rug a little softer underfoot, also. I like that you can cut the pad to size. The only reason I gave an overall rating of 4 stars is due to the slight difficulty in getting the rug to line up over the pad. Otherwise, great purchase!"

"I recently purchased outdoor rugs for my kitchen (near the sink/dishwasher) and inside and outside my back door. I picked outdoor rugs in these spots, because I can just hose them clean, and they won't be damaged when the kids come in dripping from the pool. Because the rugs will be dripped on, I also needed a pad that would dry quickly. Most importantly, I needed a pad that would prevent the rugs from slipping under us.
This rug pad fits the bill. It is a very basic non-slip pad (just a thin rubbery mesh). It doesn't provide a lot of cushioning. But it does keep the rugs in place quite well, and the mesh construction allows it to dry quickly.
Also, it cuts to size easily with normal scissors. That made it easy to cut this size pad into pads for my three smaller rugs, making it a great value."

"I was about to spend several hundred dollars on new entry rugs. The old ones (4 of them) slid around so easily they were dangerous. Enter outdoor rug pad. I bought one larger piece and cut it to fit under the 4 rugs. They now stay safely put. I have tried other rug "anchors" and have not had nearly as good of a result. The rugs now have a slightly cushier feel when walking on them, without raising them off the floor very much. Although mine is an indoor application, I can see how the pad would help an outdoor rug stay dryer with the mesh like construction. I can't speak to durability, I have only had them a couple weeks."
